Air transat cancelled our september flights and offered a credit note.  We said no but they would not budge.  took it up with our credit card and they are refusing as they say travel services are still available.  Dont count on credit card companies helping.
Go back to them and say that you paid for flights and they have been cancelled so you haven't received the services you paid for. They have no reason to refuse you.

Here's my experience.  Booked flight only with Canadian Affair , owned by AT so slightly off topic here sorry. Due to fly 5th August.
I was quite amenable to a rebooking in 12 months time even though our original plans, involving mostly a side trip to Yellowstone and Seattle, seem off limits out of choice in 2021, if not through govt action.
We booked 3x MAN > Vancouver, cattle class out, club class return, so £4K at risk.
I rearranged today to rebook with exactly 1 year delay, same flight configuration,  plus added a night's hotel at start and end of the trip, thus getting ATOL cover for my whole exposure.
Flight element is £120 cheaper overall, arranged so I get a cash refund of the original outbound flight value, balance to pay in May 2021, so some reassurance if things go belly up meantime.
TBH I am happy with this.  I work for Sykes and have spent the last 3 months refunding customers so can appreciate both sides of this horrendous situation we are all in. Best of luck everyone, whatever your strategy.

Barclaycard chargeback update (an FYI as I know a few are disputing via the same CC provider) ...I Raised the dispute mid June and they applied a Temp Credit for the full AT fare. I assume this was just whilst they reviewed the claim, mail received saying they were v busy.
21st July they put a another TEMP credit ac against the ac, then on the 23rd two debit against the temp credits effectively resetting. Then lastly a new credit 'Dispute - Air Transat' still for the full amount. Doesn't say temp against it. Still no communications to advise what the status is and whether or not fully resolved! My thoughts giving the timing is that they've just looked at the claim and now charged it back to AT so I'm still at risk of them disputing it.
Also, on FB forums I've heard that:
     1. AT are now refunding the UK leg of many of their flights - has anyone received anything from them?
    2. That AT have extended the time limit on use of the vouchers indefinitely. Has anyone been advised of this? It worries me as It effectively means they can hold you money indefinitely. (prev you were entitled to a refund of you didn't use the vouchers within the time limit. Fingers crossed the CC will sort and this won't be an issue.

Agreed, You are entitled to refuse the voucher and ask for full refund under AT t&c's. It's only additional compensation they won't pay out for Force Majeure. Though they deny this! CC should dispute under credit consumer act.

Yes i would agree with that. You now start the 45 (60 working days) countdown for AT to dispute it.

    1. I've had no official notice, only what I've read on FB groups. However they appear to only be at April flights and they're going through them in date order. 2. Again no official word but it is now in their FAQs on their website so will be true. However it was never the case that you got a refund after 2 years. If the voucher wasn't used within 2 years you simply lost it. I asked them specifically that question. https://www.airtransat.com/en-GB/book-uk/resumption-of-our-operations#/results
  • Received an e mail today from Airtransat stating the vouchers have no time limit for use.  Also they are now transferable to someone else which they refused back in April

are flights were early June, I've had the latest email tonight.

rather ironic I've had no other email dating back several months and no mention of any one way refund. its just the latest moving of the goalposts with AT, I'm a few weeks away from my 45/60 days so I'll see what happens there I'm still after a full refund.

There was a comment, yesterday, by Scott Dudley on the Facebook group 'Ask Canadian Airline for Refunds (COVID-19-Air Transat/Air Canada &+).  Copied below as wasn't allowed to post link.  He was supposed to be travelling from Canada to Europe.

'For reference: I succeeded with my dispute against Air Transat for tickets purchased using my Capital One (Canada) Mastercard. The dispute was opened on June 13 and Capital One provided a temporary credit. Air Transat responded to Capital One regarding the dispute, but the case was still decided in my favour and closed (permanently) on July 23, meaning the credit is now permanent. 🎉'

Communication from the CAA shows that Air Transat have been informed that a full refund is due when flights have been cancelled and not a half refund for just the UK to Canada leg. Air Transat has been trying to claim that their solution has come after discussions with the CAA as if the CAA have agreed to that.

Use this in your chargebacks to show that Air Transat is breaking the law and has been advised as such by the UK's regulatory body.

I trust most (hopefully all) people chasing Air Transat are part of the Facebook group (Air Transat refund group).

just to update any that are not, today I was informed my chargeback was successful with NO appeal from Air Transat.

    details,
chargeback claim submitted on the 10.May.
chargeback acknowledged by Tesco credit card on the 18.May.

Tesco paid out on the 16.June.2020 stating Air Transat have 45 days to appeal this.
Friday.31.July ( was the 45th day, ** not working days either).

Earlier today I spoke toTesco who confirmed that Air Transat had not appealed against my chargeback and as the 45 days have passed they can’t now.

    happy days
