@Westin ... well that would be a great business model ...
- business takes money for service
- business can't provide service
- business keeps money
I've been initially offered a credit note - but have asked for a refund. TR are apparently now trying to obtain this!?!1 -
Got 2 emails from TR regarding my 2 bookings in May.
Sadly, in light of the continued advice from the Foreign Commonwealth Office/Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade against all but essential travel, we understand your holiday will most likely not be going ahead.
As you have purchased a refundable hotel, transfer or airport parking ticket from us, we will start the cancellation process on all affected bookings in date order from 25 April. What do you need to do now?
Happy to cancel?
You do not need to do anything, the cancellation process will start from 25 April 2020.
Once your booking is cancelled you will receive the cancellation notice.
We will then start the cash refund process and we will get your refund back to you as quickly as we can, however - due to the unprecedented number of requests received - a process that normally takes weeks, may take months.
When your refund is complete, we will notify you.
Want to keep your booking?
Please reply to this request to let us know that you would like to retain this booking by 12pm on Friday 24 April 2020.
Your booking will then remain live as requested.
I still haven't heard any more about my 3 bookings they cancelled for March and April holidays.0 -

If you fail to pay the balance then you are charged the above for cancellation.
Pay the balance and you will get a RCN voucher which has a 12 month validity and a promise of cash refund down the line .
I'd pay the balance personallyEx forum ambassador

Westin said:@harrychown: Did you book just a hotel from Travel Republic? Was it a non-refundable room rate? If so I don’t believe they have to refund you. They may approach their supplier/hotel to seek a concession on the rate plan but I don’t believe their is any requirement to offer a free cancellation and refund on a non-refundable rate. Travel Republic may offer a credit voucher as a goodwill gesture, but again not obligated to. If you are unable to travel whilst holding a non-refundable room and the supplier is not offering a refund then your travel insurer is the normal and best next step to make.0

Was due to fly out today but obviously been cancelled so requested full refund and had the message saying it could take months. It was paid for on credit card, am I better looking to get money back from the credit card company instead possibly ?0
-
On what grounds ?
They have not refused to pay you , just not as quickly as you would like .
You can attempt to ring your credit card company but I suspect that you will have a long wait on the phone and then they will not attempt a section 75Ex forum ambassador

What they actually said is that they will attempt to seek a refund on my behalf, but that this could take months, so they’re not committing themselves to saying that I will definitely be getting money back0

Travel Republic have now emailed to say they will be commencing refunds over the coming weeks ... we’ll see.0

It brings us great pleasure to let you know that we will start to issue refunds from next Monday 4 May.
To make the refund process as fair as possible, our Customer Service team will be processing each individual refund in strict departure date order. We will begin issuing refunds from week commencing 4th May 2020. This will be for all holidays that where affected up to and including 22nd March 2020.
We will continue this on a rolling weekly basis, with refunds issued 7 weeks from the original departure week following the schedule laid out below;2
