British Gas X (Online Only Tariff) - Updated 6th April - AVOID

There are a lot of "companies" on companies house which hold a supply license but don't supply.
These are called 'suppliers in a box' - The idea with these companies is that they sell the company and supply license to people to make it easier to start up a new supply company.
Look through loads of companies such as Octopus, Bulb etc. and they'll have the same things: Look up "Andrew Dyball" on companies house as an example of other companies as well (including E Energy)
British Gas Trading Limited is the 'person with significant' control.....
The main director of British Gas X is also a director of ... you guess it... British Gas
It looks as though British Gas X is a trial run to see how well a non-call centre supplier can work.
As it's only available on select comparison sites (Not on Uswitch) - it's likely a lot of people not involved are unaware.
@499scammed - if you want to be taken seriously about calling out scams, maybe not have "scam" in your name.

It's always worth staying vigilant to be fair.
It's likely that the person you spoke you hadn't heard of it and main BG hadn't been briefed - therefore the initial response would be "it's likely a scam".
They only started up last month so you might need to wait a couple of months to get any useful feedback1 -

Email response from CEC (MSE) to concerns ...
(should put minds at rest once and for all)I can confirm that British Gas X is part of British Gas. We've recently been in touch with British Gas, and they've provided us with the following statement:
> British Gas X is a new product from British Gas. As a new product, it has only been released to a limited number of customers. British Gas X Limited is an entity of British Gas, and the customer manages the account through a separate website, britishgasx.co.uk.
I will however make sure that your feedback is passed on to our commercial teams, and we may look to add a note on the site.
Hope this information helps.

there needs to be a way of contacting them, chat does not work and no email address0

I guess the British Gas call centre worker got it wrong then by telling me it was a scam. Oh well. It’s all very well them saying that the customer manages the account through the website but if that doesn’t work and you can’t get hold of them then it kind of makes you a bit suspicious. This is my first experience of switching energy to a different company and it’s been such a pain that it’s put me right off. It seems like the direct debit issues and contact issues will probably put a few people off BGX.0

Oh and thanks to the people on here who also looked in to it. Appreciated.0

So eventually British Gas got back to me and confirmed that BGX is part of them (Well sort of) they sent me a link to get hold of them and said they couldn’t help me with anything, I still couldn’t get hold of BGX and I’ve heard nothing from them. I think they’ve just completely b£&@*%ed up the whole thing. I wonder if anyone has had a decent experience with them? Apologies for my previous posts of calling it a scam but it was what I was told by British Gas. On a different note while trying to sort this out I have found that SSE customer service has been very helpful and I think that this sometimes outweighs a cost saving.0

I have been trying to get in touch with them for over 3 weeks, with no luck. The web chat is not working. They have taken on my Electric but not the gas so with old supplier for gas still. I have cancelled my Direct Debit with them and waiting to see if that works also sent email to there complaints dept, Wish i had not swapped now0
