British Gas X (Online Only Tariff) - Updated 6th April - AVOID

Just spoken to British Gas as the switch wasn’t going through and they said that British Gas X is an absolute scam they even use their logos etc, it is nothing at all to do with them and they can’t do anything to help.

Its not a 'scam', British Gas X is owned by the same parent company as British Gas and has every right to use their logos if the parent company allows them to.

Look up British Gas X and you will see that it previously traded as Tillicum who in turn have registered 1 employee. When I phoned British Gas to sort out my switch the lady on the phone confirmed that British Gas X is a scam. Also when I spoke to SSE who I am switching from they said that the database had registered that I was switching to Tillicum. 100%scam

Yeah, right.

A scammer would base themselves at the same address as British Gas and hope that British Gas, Ofgem, Trading Standards and the police didn't notice.

A very ill informed and / or disgruntled employee perhaps? Try getting it in writing !

This is what I found when I looked it up:

British Gas X Limited is a dormant company incorporated on 11 July 2017 with the registered office located in Windsor, Berkshire. British Gas X Limited has been running for 2 years. There are currently 2 active directors and 1 active secretary according to the latest confirmation statement submitted on 10th July 2019.

499scammed tells us that David Icke says that British Gas is also a scam because it's a Dormant Company and used to be Atlantic Shore Limited !

Look, I’m not on here to make up stuff about scams, I’m only saying what I was told by British Gas and thought it might help someone to not get done over. It would be genuinely interesting to see if anyone has actually had a bill from British Gas X ltd. I also now find it strange that on the normal British Gas site there is no mention whatsoever of British Gas X. I’m merely confused and earlier was also a bit worried that I have been scammed. As a side note the bank also said they did not recognise the direct debit name which had been set up.

The company is owned by British Gas Trading Limited, which having worked for British Gas Trading Limited (albeit 15 years ago) is most definitely British Gas and part of the Centrica Group.  Understandable you would believe the call centre advisor, but in this case the advisor looks to have been wrong.
