....which will of course be the grand total of zero! It takes a special kind of pedantic mind to try to make something of this technicality, but I'd be astonished if anyone else chose to interpret RBS's email as literally signifying that online banking would be available without security, and if they were to be distraught when presented with a login page after reading the email then I'm sure their responsible adults should be able to console them.2e0arr said:happy to point out this to the good people on the Forum who may be RBS customers on who it may impact.2 -

How do i know its a genuine email ? i have to take a risk and in taking the risk i have to input my user id that gives a potential scammer my DOB.
its an email just giving info
but why does it include a link to logon.
RBS should not do that and we should expect better from them.0 -
If you are unsure then do not click on the link. That as ever is the best advice.2e0arr said:

Remember the page it takes you to is not a login page. You have to click away from that page to go to a login page. As you said...
I bet just about every page on the RBS site has a link to the login page?Life in the slow lane2 -
born_again said:>>The support centre Link takes you to a webpage with two attractive young ladies with the text "If you need a helping hand, we’re here", LOL very saucy. However the webpage has a login link and when you click it it then asks you for your RBS customer number which starts with your date of birth in a 6 digit form. Then next part asks you for your password details ?this breaches principle 7 of the FCA principles plus a few more.RBS customer service think there is nothing wrong with this email. <<
So by what you are saying that any link from a banks website to their internet banking sign on page is a breech of FCA principles..
Crazy.
Just about every post you seem to be making is about complaining to the FCA??So by what you are saying that any link from a banks website to their internet banking sign on page is a breech of FCA principles..<< No it was a link in an information email which is what made it look dubious it contradicted what the email said about not asking for a password.
Crazy.<< Please read and consider the forums etiquette guide.
Just about every post you seem to be making is about complaining to the FCA?? << im so glad you pointed this out and must point out that I have never suggested complaining to the FCA . I have suggested complaining to the Financial Ombudsman or FO to you?
In every resolution letter from a bank is a leaflet pointing out if you are unhappy with their resolution complain to the Financial Ombudsman or FO to you? which is a good suggestion to people on the forum.

Every page I've checked has the log-in link. You can read the page address for reassurance.1 -

The issue is about the email which contradicts itself and breaches FCA principles0 -
The email says it contains a link to the support centre. It takes you to the support centre. At the top of the page (as for all pages on RBS's customer-facing website) it contains a link at the top to log in.2e0arr said:

Nowhere within the email are they asking you to log in or provide your log in details. You do not need to provide your login information in order to access the generic support centre.
Are you suggesting that the emailed link should take you to a version of the site without the log-in banner?4
