Actually on checking this (don't know why I should as others have already said it does) it has a link at the top of every page.2e0arr said:
I bet just about every page on the RBS site has a link to the login page? << dont bet or guess check facts . No on the linked page is the link "Login" and there is no way to know if it is genuineborn_again said:
If you are unsure then do not click on the link. That as ever is the best advice.2e0arr said:

It takes a special kind of pedantic mind to try to make something of this technicality, but I'd be astonished if anyone else chose to interpret RBS's email as literally signifying that online banking would be available without security, and if they were to be distraught when presented with a login page after reading the email then I'm sure their responsible adults should be able to console them.2e0arr said:happy to point out this to the good people on the Forum who may be RBS customers on who it may impact.

How do i know its a genuine email ? i have to take a risk and in taking the risk i have to input my user id that gives a potential scammer my DOB.
its an email just giving info
but why does it include a link to logon.
RBS should not do that and we should expect better from them.
Remember the page it takes you to is not a login page. You have to click away from that page to go to a login page. As you said...

I said in a previous post
So by what you are saying that any link from a banks website to their internet banking sign on page is a breech of FCA principles..Crazy.

Just what do you think crazy refers too?
So you clicked on a link to a support page from a email, and are then not happy it has a link to login.
Please check yourself from the main RBS page. Go to support section (and others) and tell us is there a link to login on the pages?
Just for you it was Crazy that its a breech of FCA principles... Nothing personal.

The email says it contains a link to the support centre. It takes you to the support centre. At the top of the page (as for all pages on RBS's customer-facing website) it contains a link at the top to log in.2e0arr said:
I cannot trust the page address which I am unfamiliar with and i am taken to by their email. The issue is about the email which contradicts itself and breaches FCA principles
Nowhere within the email are they asking you to log in or provide your log in details. You do not need to provide your login information in order to access the generic support centre.
Are you suggesting that the emailed link should take you to a version of the site without the log-in banner?dcs34 said:

Nothing personal. << I think you have violated the forums etiquette and if you can't accept that others may disagree with your behavior then please avoid interacting with them and forcing your values and standards on them. The email says it will not ask you for a password yet takes you via links and pages to a screen that asks for your password. That is unclear unfair and misleading. FCA principle 7 Communications with clients: A firm must pay due regard to the information needs of its clients, and communicate information to them in a way which is clear, fair and not misleading.

The OP is right in that RBS are sending out an email with a clickable link. That is a big No No, especially in financial matters. They should know better.
If I were a fraudster I would send out my own identical email with a clickable link going to MY 'support page' hoping people wll try and logon from there.
Never EVER click on a link in an email

I just love how banks bleat on about how they will never send you a link to log in and tell you to visit their website to log in yet they are still happy to send marketing crap littered with links. No wonder people are confused.
