  • Chamelion: They were on ebay two weeks ago. There were two for sale. They sometimes crop up on places like Gumtree as well.
These are not what you are looking for - but it shows that they do turn up.

I have to say, Ive not seen any come up (and finish) for £100.
Infact one i was tracking finished at over £300, and that was seriously water damaged.

It would have been definitely worth a punt at £100

I'd have took a punt on just the cells up to £150, but not more than that.

    Happy New Year everyone 🙂

Random app/web portal question, has anyone else noticed that you can no longer tap on the "battery charging" box to toggle between showing battery charging and discharging that day?

Yeah I noticed that recently too.
Maybe they thought it isn't needed as the discharge figures are in the graph at the bottom ??

Yeah still on 14.19p per kwh through the day and 5p from 12.30am to 4.30am so no change to our leccy, as yet.
Our account doesn't actually show an end date for Go now, strangely.

Our gas ends on 28th Feb though so expecting to get hammered there.  :/

Ahh yeah mine has already went to 3.78p as of a few months ago.
Yours may be considerably more right enough with the recent hikes.
Would put electric boiler maths in an interesting new light.

    Great news on go 👍

Yeah I was thinking that, might even be a case for a heat pump.
Probably need to hunt around for other gas deals although I can imagine they'll all be in the 5-6p region by then.  :s

Do take a look at heat pumps and share your view please! I looked up at my end and ignoring RHI for the moment it'd cost £9 vs £2 to heat our home a day. RHI takes some of the bite off but not enough. RHI is also being replaced in march by the new scheme that will only provide up front £4 or £5k support for the installation, which is far less generous compared to RHI, so if the math or man math works for you you have a few months to act...

I'd like to see your calculations for that, and understand where the £9 comes from.
With mains gas at 4p/kWh, £2 would buy you 50kWh of gas. Burning that in a 90% efficient boiler will yield 45kWh of heat.
Obtaining the same 45kWh of heat from a 300% efficient heat pump would take 15kWh of electricity. At 21p/kWh that would cost £3.15.
