Is the Bank of Scotland (Halifax brand) Reward account offering the same deal ? And if so how do I opt in since they are not answering calls

How are you planning on 5-6 Halifax reward accounts ?
Unless you already have them .
    Well done if so .

I'm checking to see if £25k-£30k would be better in the Marcus account at that rate or across 5-6 Halifax accounts at £5k each. From what i've understood (and i didn't necessarily understand correctly) i would now get more money (£30 off of the Halifax accounts vs whatever per month off the Marcus) with the Halifax accounts than the Marcus account?

Both pay similar amounts per month. Crucially, one is fixed for the next 12 months whereas the other one has the uncertainty of a variable rate.
Seen the news tonight? Had your eye on things over the last 4-5 weeks particularly? Which way do you think interest rates are heading this year? I'll give you a clue, it's not north.

So do you want a fix you can very easily get out of, penalty free? Or do you want a variable rate and the hassle of chopping and changing...if other options are available, and that may be a big if. And remember, they will each pay within 5p of each other per month, at least in the short term.

When you put it like that.

I activated the £5 for £5000 on all accounts last night. I was going to cut most of them but thought I better not.

As for the accounts, yes I have access to 6. Well it could be 7 but it’s going to be 6.
  • Do you think it will be OK to pay a friend or family member(wife) the £500 by debit card Paypal transfer? and have that count as the £550 monthly card payment?

as well as the odd "test" payment to see how it shows online and compare. It's all a learning curve :) Cheers!
    What have you learned?

I dont see how discussing 500 DC payment possibilitys ..... isnt a major part of the new offer .
Especially with a few accounts that mean its a 2000-3000 spend a month on as many DC
Those putting 5000 in wont be interested but so what  ....thats nothing to do with working the 500 spend option
Paypal wasnt a option from memory..... I would gladly be proved wrong ?

Why not use PMs to discuss it - with people who agree to discuss it with you by PM. Please count me out though.

Yes I do see your point and you did take the time to advise me on one option which was appreciated .
I rarely approach others by PM as it may seem intrusive .
Hopefully YBS works out until I can have a go at pingit which seems daunting  at pres  .
Im not up to speed on app payment platforms as have no need.... until now .
