Halifax Reward Account changing to £3 charge with “lifestyle rewards”

I was confused by whether I'd be charged or not - rather a lot going on in my life at the moment - but amazingly I got though to the call centre after only 55 mins and they confirmed what Fingerbobs and soulsaver had already said. Account now closed. Thanks to everyone. Stay safe.
If you can't think of anything nice to write, say nothing. Rudeness isn't clever.0 -
Having been a loyal customer for many years I think it is disgusting that the Halifax has changed the rules in such a major way at this time of economic uncertainty for many. SHAME ON YOU HALIFAX.0

Whilst it might be marginally more onerous to earn the reward, depending on which one you choose, they are offering you 2.5 times as much money as you were able to get before, and a larger selection of rewards. Many people are pleased that they no longer need DDs. You had around 3 months notice. You are free to decline the offer, or even leave Halifax if you are unhappy. The offer has nothing to do with economic uncertainty.vjbworcs said:Having been a loyal customer for many years I think it is disgusting that the Halifax has changed the rules in such a major way at this time of economic uncertainty for many. Has anyone received any confirmation that they have switched since calling the automated line?0

In my view it's an improved offering. I switched out my Reward accounts for a switching incentive last year as I didn't think they were worth keeping, but I'm slightly tempted by the new offering.vjbworcs said:Having been a loyal customer for many years I think it is disgusting that the Halifax has changed the rules in such a major way at this time of economic uncertainty for many. I suspect Halifax actually regret the new scheme - if they had known what was going to happen re the lockdown and the fall in interest rates, they may well have just preferred to scrap the old scheme totallyvjbworcs said:Having been a loyal customer for many years I think it is disgusting that the Halifax has changed the rules in such a major way at this time of economic uncertainty for many. Have you read any of the thread ?TempUsername03052020 said:Has anyone received any confirmation that they have switched since calling the automated line?
Nope, didn't think so0 -
I asked the question on page 25 of this thread and I don't think anybody bothered to answer the question until it was asked again in the pages after 50. Apologies if I am wrong but better late than never I suppose.Wheres_My_Cashback said:

I can't remember whether it was your or someone else's questions, but I did answer them twice.Joe9090 said:

When we make changes to your account, we'll always remind you that if you think they mean your account no longer meets your needs, you can choose to close it. If you decide to do this, you'll need to repay your overdraft balance if you have one. There's no charge for closing it and you can do so any time before the changes take effect on 1st June 2020.This is one of the paragraphs from the original letter. I've emboldened the line that initially had me thinking I needed to close my account before 1 June (since I'm not a fan of the changes). But then surely if I close it according to their timetable I'd forfeit May's £2 reward? (there's a line lower down that reads "Your account must remain open for any chosen Offer to be provided to you", and it would be paid early June). The inference surely from the second clause of the emboldened line is that if you want to close your account you need to do it before 1 June. But why would they state that when AFAICT there's absolutely no penalty or negative consequence, at least not to the customer, of closing it after 31 May?
