  • Can't believe the number of people generally on this thread making such hard work of something so very simple and that doesn't even include the dubious posters.
Call the number given, register, End ! Why all the what if, why, when, how, who, where.
People are reading far too much into this and even making stuff up on what is a very simple clear process.

Seems strange, the number stated on my letter is 0345 129 9744 but that number just disconnects straight away.  I was advised by a member of staff that the number to use had changed to 0345 129 9733 as I've seen quoted on this thread and elsewhere but that number is constantly busy for me, I'll try again and will hopefully be successful in the evening/earlyish in the morning.  I can't understand why the number quoted in the letter is no longer usable for me but works for somebody else, odd!

and in that very e-mail it says:
If you’ve already called us to keep your Reward Current Account and selected your monthly reward, please ignore this email.

and this was the advice from e-mail sent by Halifax at 11am today re the phone number:

"If you decide to keep your Reward Current Account you can do this by calling our automated number 0345 129 9744 by 15th May 2020. You'll be asked to select your choice of Reward Extras at the same time. "

I'd also mislaid my letter- so perhaps everyone is suddenly phoning?? (I thought the choice had to be made  by the end of the month- silly me!)

Email received as some posts above,it also says: -
"To help you get used to your new account, we won’t charge the £3 monthly maintaining the account fee between June and August. But you’ll still need to pay in £1,500 each month to qualify for your reward."

According to my letter, the £3.00 fee is waived for me as it's a staff account, I haven't worked for the Halifax for approximately 20 years!  :D

So that's just a test of whether you can make the DC payments, right?   It's not that you are expecting to be paid the £5 in June?

Well the information I was given earlier doesn't make sense but hey-ho, I've just successfully registered my choices using 0345 129 9744.
