A thread which has a title referring to a then, future, event should not be revived well after the event.  Agreed?
It was already well after the event 6 months ago when the thread was still active.  Therefore it seemed logical to continue it - especially as I was discussing similar topics already raised in the thread.
    Agreed?
Yes, maybe, but surely maybe not... The thread title "Halifax Reward Account changing to £3 charge with “lifestyle rewards” is about a change that happened and then was superseded by another change, and is, by now, history and therefore misleading when it appears in recent threads.

By adding to it, you've pushed it a title back into view that implies a forthcoming change, when there isn't one.  It has led to confusion (it confused me for a bit, and others too judging by the comments above) - and still is as people are still reacting (like I am now) and therefore keeping the thread with the now misleading title, in view.

It would definitely have been more helpful to simply start a new thread, perhaps referencing the discussion in this old one.  The previous posts about multiple accounts were already off-topic, as that isn't what the thread title is suggesting the thread is about. Agreed?

I’d have thought it was obvious from looking at the main list of threads this is an established thread which has been running for a while and isn’t a new one based on the number Of views and replies.  Also as this thread contained lots of information about multiple accounts, and came up when I used the forum search function it made sense to me to post here.

Out of interest what is the additional change that has happened to this account since the thread went live?

However next time I want to share an update on an existing thread that is more than a few months old I either won’t bother as I’m beginning to feel it’s not worth the hassle, or will start a new thread, and direct the posters who tell me I should have just appended the previous thread to this post!

Do payments to Starling’s settle up feature count towards the £500?
£250 one day, £250 the next.

Should do, though you might find Starling won't like the money cycling and warn you to desist or have your account closed.

The offer/deal ends on 31 May - Let's hope they continue with it (they did extend for a further year last year)

Are you sure it is a time-limited offer that needs extending? The Lloyds Lifestyle Benefits are a permanent feature of the Club Lloyds account.

It's valid for 12 months from the date it is applied. People will have signed up over the year, so it could be pulled at any time and presumably they'd honour the deal until the 12 months expire.

If you go back to the first post in this thread, you'll see this offer has not been a permanent feature of the Halifax Reward account. In fact the original Rewards had been changed several times, before being replaced by this Reward Extras scheme.

I have already renewed my accounts once, some in May and some an August. I don't know what Halifax's plans are but I would be very surprised if they pulled the offer on individual accounts before they have run for a full 12 months. I hope / half suspect they will offer a 3rd round of renewals.

Bad or poor moderation! That's the cause and elephant in the room that nobody wants to talk about. I use other forums, and if a post is deemed a 'new thread mods would immediately spawn a new thread and add a note to the post/new thread to say the reason(s) and also include the handle of the mod (so user can Personal message the mod if necessary)

I don't believe the terms and conditions say '..it could be pulled at any time...'.

The terms and conditions (https://www.halifax.co.uk/assets/pdf/bankaccounts/banking-offers-guide.pdf) do say:

"* The Offer lasts for a set period.

    ...........
    * We will contact you before the end of the Offer period, either by writing to you or, if you have agreed, by sending you an email or text message, to tell you what will happen next."

However, Halifax bank would be within their rights to give 2 months notice then change or cancel the offer. The bank account getting started guide, which has the terms and conditions explains it as one month notice for interest rate changes (unless immediate action is required sooner to protect the bank's interest or for regulatory purposes) and two months notice for all other changes:

    https://www.halifax.co.uk/assets/pdf/bankaccounts/pdf/bank-account-guide.pdf

You will see further reference to two months when it comes to changes to insurance policies attached to the ultimate rewards account.

Edit: the formatting on posts with the new MSE site can be horrendous. The top part of this post is a case in point. It seems !!!!!!'s (tiny url's ) aren't allowed either!!

Edit2: Okay, so I was able to fix the formatting by logging on to desktop MSE website. Heads up. For smoother online experience, use desktop MSE website. Android version is buggy. Worse case, if urgent, use Android then use desktop to edit.

Talking about elephants in the room: if people took a bit more care with the thread title they use, the forum could be a lot more helpful.

For example, adding a date to the title for T&C changes, or for switch offers could help.

Threads usually stay on the forum forever / for a very long time. Some threads will/might be of ongoing interest, others will have limited relevance. A bit of thinking ahead when setting up the title would be helpful.
