This thread being resurrected after 18 months threw me a little - as it suggested things were changing now. Whereas they actually changed nearly a year ago.

Personally I just keep the £5k a month in there. I choose the Vue cinema reward option - which I use - which is worth the equivalent of £14.25 gross a month to me. Thats £11 for the price of a Vue cinema VIP seat in their London branches and £3.25 for the 50% popcorn saving! That's equivalent to nearly 3.5% interest - no tax issues as a higher rate taxpayer either. I also have a year to use each cinema voucher.

Beyond moving £1500 in and out each month there is nothing more to do.

Not for everyone but it works for me!
    6 months not 18!

    Yes sorry - 6 months.

But the first post was from March 2020 - that was when things were changing! We are nearly two years on from when the thread title was valid.

Perhaps we need a making the Halifax reward account work thread - to avoid confusion! Nothing is changing now - it changed a long time ago.

    It threw me anyway initially.

Me, too - although not for long.  Thread hijacking is not exactly rare.
Se1lad, a trimmed back version of that final sentence of your OP could/should have been the title of a new thread.
Although your question has been addressed many times... ;)

Note that I was mainly sharing my recent feedback of opening multiple accounts, which was also talked about earlier in this thread.  So it didn’t feel like thread hijacking, more like providing an update.  It’s not as if the thread is really old- it’s under 6 months from the last update.

I’ve also seen people on here shot down if they start a new thread when one already exists - looks like I can’t win either way! :)

A thread which has a title referring to a then, future, event should not be revived well after the event.  Agreed?

SE1Lad  certain people on here go to the controlling extent of spamming threads so the workaround info and whole thread gets deleted ....
This has happened in the past .

Some are currently banned but will be back in one form or another

So carry on with your workarounds as some others on here will help you out.... but not all .
Dont ask me why ...small minds ,lifes too short and all that  .

It was already well after the event 6 months ago when the thread was still active.  Therefore it seemed logical to continue it - especially as I was discussing similar topics already raised in the thread.
    Agreed?

Thanks Daliah and OceanSound.  I had incorrectly assumed that paying off a credit card with a debit card would count as curve fronted.

I presume using Halifax debit card linked to Curve is still ok for meeting the £500 debit card spend?
You can always use the tracker within the Halifax Bank App to check. Usually the tracker takes a few days to register the payment as counting towards the £500 debit card spend. So, I'd say give it a week and see if it shows as 'on track'.

edit: you can Personal message WillPS and ask to confirm prior to doing any payment.
Yepp, this is what I do. No extra fees.

I think Curve Fronted only applies when the card selected in your app is a Credit Card?

You'll need to wait 20 mins or so between transactions (Amex don't seem to let you put through a debit card transaction until they've finished with the previous one).

Only if the merchant wouldn’t normally accept credit cards. Otherwise use of credit cards is free (I know this is an off-topic comment)

Right, which Amex would be by definition - whether or not Curve have flagged them up as a 'Fronted' merchant or not I don't know.

The only Credit Card issuer I know of who allow payment by credit card is Creation.
