Corona-virus - How worried are you?

I know it is disappointing plans are being cancelled. I feel your pain I really do. lets be thankful for the important things. LL told me that the other day, and that is what I am abiding by - she is so right in her wisdom.
With love, POSR

luvchocolate. I'm in a similar situation to you, 68 and in reasonably good nick. My son has asthma and my DIL is pregnant with their second baby, my grandson is 18 months. They are now working from home and both they and I are self isolating. It's not ideal and I will miss seeing them but it's for the best......hopefully 3 months or so might see us over the worst.I would love to see them and be able to help out and yes I am missing all those wonderful cuddles and sloppy kisses from my grandson but needs must. My son and his wife are both in the vulnerable category and although I am under 70 (just) I think it's also best for me to try and avoid putting myself in harms way. I want to be around for my grandchildren when this is over.We are in touch every day, phone, text, Skype, they send me videos of his antics. I would love to be there to be more hands on and help them out but it's not a good idea.
This virus is a vicious brute and it is highly contagious so the more of us that can self isolate the better for all of us and hopefully the sooner it will be over.Try not to worry, it will only make matters worse because stress hormones deplete our immune systems. So eat and sleep well, and do some exercise to stay strong and healthy. Go for a walk each day to get some fresh air - but obviously follow the government advice and keep your distance and avoid crowded places, public transport etc.
Keep busy and stay happy. Make a list of all the things you would like to do, those little niggly outstanding jobs around the house, take up some new interests or revive an old hobby you have let slip. Ok some things might need to go on hold, no bucket list trips or parachute jumps😂🤣 But there's still plenty you can do from home to help make the time pass by.And what's 3 to 6 months in the grand scheme of things, if it means you get another 20 years.??6 -
And what do you do if you can't buy something ?Beatricebrooke21 said:This not normal. Everyone is panicking. You need to have a list of needed products to buy.0 -
Look for a substitute, natch. That’s not the problem, is it? It’s the total over the top buying, which I can understand in the case of people going into lockdown, and needing 12 weeks supplies as they won’t be able to go out, for health reasons, etc. But if it’s to make a fast buck it’s unforgivable, amoral, and verging on criminal.50Twuncle said:

This probably won’t help in the slightest, but when I was a teenager, and religious, I gave up sugar in tea for Lent one year, blahugh , got used to it, and never back to it, so the next year I gave up sugar in coffee, blahugh, got used to it and never went back to it, so the next year gave up milk in coffee, got used to it, never went back to it, and after that, gave up milk in tea, used lemon instead, got used to it and never went back to it.50Twuncle said:

In answer to the OP question of how worried am I...
More than I was yesterday, but less than I'll be tomorrow. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)3
