I've been working on a new one: superdupermarket.co.uk
That's good to know. Let us know when it's ready.
It's working now - interesting development, but needs a lot of work of course.

it's great to see/know people are working on alternatives but unfortunately, as of yet, none come close to mysupermarket.
interesting to note today is the deadline they put on selling on the website.....
  • The Mysupermarket price comparison tool is back through the Latestdeals.co.uk app which was set up by the guys behind mysupermarket.co.uk. See screenshots. I've tried it and it seems to work.
  • Misleading thread title.
Mysupermarket is not back and that Latestdeals app has been around for months and is nowhere near as good as mysupermarket.

    Sorry.

I have to disagree with you. Yes, I'm aware that Latest deals has been around for months (and I hated it) but the 'supermarket comparison' tab has only been added recently. I've tested it by looking up obscure products and it works.

It appears to me that you haven't read my post properly nor actually tried the new comparison tool. Surely, you should have done that before commenting.

I'm pretty sure it's not the same people - I remember reading an interview with the Latest Deals people, who said they were disappointed MySupermarket had gone, and set about coding a replacement over a weekend, or something like that.

It works okay, but the number of shops is small, and it often struggles to parse product descriptions and quantities correctly, leading to way-off standardised price measurements.

I read and understood your post.
I tried the comparison tool when it first came out and again when you posted it(in the vain hope it had improved).
It is a waste of time when compared to mysupermarket.

Maybe you should have researched how long the comparison tool had been available before you posted.

Mysupermarket's gone - sad but a hard fact.  The alternatives such as Latest deals and Shelfscraper may not be as good, but they're both infinitely better than the alternative, which is nothing at all.
  • @docn I realise mysupermarket is gone.
But @pingusback posted a thread with the misleading title "Mysupermarket price comparison tool is back" which has nowbnow spliced onto the existing mysupermarket thread.
    Hence my answers.

It's odd that posts about the LatestDeals app are allowed, but ones mentioning other websites are removed because they count as marketing. Mine is still getting 400-500 unique users a week, which is high enough that I want to keep it going until there is a suitable alternative. I was expecting MySupermarket to come back within a few months though and it is a burden to maintain, especially when one is trying to do so on the cheap. However MSE have not announced anything and the Latest Deals app shows items in an unsorted order. This means it can be used to compare branded goods or very niche products where it doesn't take long to scroll through them all. But it is not useful for people wanting to find the cheapest place to buy staple foods. I posted about how it works internally shortly after it was released and I can't see any functional differences. @pingusback what has changed that has warranted your post?
