In most papers today that could last the full year0

Look on the bright side folks. We could have had a Corbyn government managing this.6

Survival package there's nothing to stimulate.......ratechaser said:Yeah, that stimulus package went down like a lead balloon. Rather like travel/tourism stocks are doing...
US futures already at their 5% limit down levels. Could we see another >2000 point fall on the Dow today...?
Wonder when Vanguard's FTSE250 tracker might be worth a punt...
you'd need a strong stomach for mid caps right now...
I dont think i've ever read a fool article that was worth the time spent. Full of shorters talking up/down a stock that they've an interest in.

Tend to agree on specific stock articles, but then I'm not allowed to trade them anyway in my job...Kendall80 said:ratechaser said:

When I look at the different market graphs, of late, for some reason I'm reminded of a child riding a bike with the stabilisers off for the first time. Out of the blocks there are a few wobbles but it looks okay before the inevitable crash.1

Except nobody knows. And looking at how the Chinese and the Koreans seem to have got this largely under control now, I don’t understand why it should take a year. A coordinated international action should be able to sort the problem out.Mick70 said:In most papers today that could last the full yearThe banks are forecasting 4th quarter revenue recovery. Of course they don’t know either but at least they don’t sell panic like the newspapers0 -
As I understand it the Chinese need to keep working at staving off the second wave of infections.

The Chinese are still struggling with containing outbreaks. Also interestingly one of the most successful nations so far in controlling the virus spread is Singapore. Singapore did not close it's schools so clearly there are different measures that may or may not be so effective.0

Would you like to live under a regime of authoritarian law? MSE would certainly not exist.Deleted_User said:

Going to take that long to have a vaccine available.0 -
If we are reasonably successful at suppressing the infection over the next two months , then there will be some relaxation of the measures . Then there will be a resurgence of the virus, probably after the Summer, and the measures will be re- introduced . The defining parameter will be how well the hospitals are coping , especially the intensive care capacity. This cycle may happen three or four times until a vaccine is available. Could take 15/18 months before things get back to normal ?Bravepants said:As I understand it the Chinese need to keep working at staving off the second wave of infections.
