If you pay at least £100 of the whole holiday cost by credit card you will get section 75 protection.  Personally I'd pay it all on credit card and pay the credit card balance off if you have the money to do so.

Apologies if this has been covered, I did search.

We booked a flight and hotel package through BA Holidays arriving in New York on 28th May. Our flight has been changed by a few hours  (which is fine) but we did consider delaying and taking the voucher option. BA are saying through their website if we decide on the voucher route then we will lose the cost of the non refundable/changeable hotel booked with themes part of the package and only gain the flight value in vouchers.

Two questions really. Can they do this when looking at the hotel website it won’t be open anyway and second, are we best just waiting for the inevitable cancellation at the BA end?

We made the initial deposit of £150 on credit card but other payments since have been through our MasterCard debit cards if that makes a difference.

    @jkkneast:
I would wait a short whilst longer for your travel date to fall into the dates where BAH are refunding. I think they had only been cancelling and refunding up to end April. With the FCO travel advisory changing at the weekend they will likely now start working on options into May and possibly June.

Keep in mind the change/refund policy for British Airways (flight) is different to British Airways Holidays (package or linked travel). The latter offering better protection for the full and complete elements of your trip.

I'd advise anybody seeking help to start their own discussion rather than tag onto this thread.

...but please, if tempted to start a new thread, check first that there is not one already that covers your question and has been answered - or - add to an existing thread on the same subject (e.g. a Jet2 thread or TUI thread).

I booked a flight to Cairo via above. The airline cancelled the flight and fully refunded lastminute.
Now lastminute want to deduct a handling fee from the full refund.
Are they obliged to do it?
    Thanks.

  • We had a BA holiday booked for early May. Out of the blue, British Airways Holidays sent us an email advising that they had cancelled our flights and holiday and would be refunding the total cost back to my credit card. It took just over a week for it to appear on my credit card aacount and one phone call to the card company for it to get back to my current account. Similarly, Gatwick airport has refunded my car parking as well.
I know that this may not be the experience of many people but all credit to BA and LGW parking for the refunds.
  • Hi, I am thinking of changing my flight booked with Easyjet from July to April 2021, rather than wait and see in July.  The flight in April is cheaper (approx. by £200), after adding 25k luggage.  I wonder if I could spend the £200 to buy food flights etc?  Has anyone changed their booking with Easyjet due to Covid-19?

    thanks

  • Hi
I booked and paid £2k+ (Amex) for a trip on the Indian Pacific Train in Australia (depart 12th April) - the company contacted me on 25th March to say all journeys had been "temporarily suspended" until 31 May, following "federal & State govt advice" and they were providing a future credit to use up until Dec 2022.
Their T&C's are: refunds for cancellations (nothing mentioned for "suspensions")
We may not be going back to Australia now.....and despite repeated attempts to get a refund, they are insisting the service is not cancelled but "temp. suspended" therefore no refunds.....any advice?
    Thanks
    Richard
