IMPORTANT- managed payments

That’s one of the other issues being raised, apparently once on managed payments only people from countries that are already using managed payments can pay. For a time yesterday sellers on managed payments couldn’t sell using GSP either.charlies_mum said:I am ‘on the list’ but not switched on yet. Sounds like another well thought through eBay plan. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever

I've been switched over a week ago. I can confirm that there doesn't appear to be any problems with receiving payments from countries all over the world. I saw the forum comments about international sales but I think it was just scaremongering based on assumptions due to Ebay's inability to communicate properly.
The only thing I can say, which can be a bit of a pain, is there appears to be a couple of minutes delay for a buyer's payment to clear and it shows as "pending" during that time. I've had a few buyer's asking "what's going on" etc so you have to take time out to reply because Ebay can't be bothered to put a note on the page when the customer is paying.
Apart from the depositing payments bit (and increased fees for lower priced items), there doesn't seem to be much difference. One plus is that you get all your fees back when processing a refund whereas Paypal used to withhold all the fees.0 -
AFAIK Ebay like PayPal keep 30p per transaction, even after a refund0

They keep the 36p transaction fee but all the selling fees are refunded. Paypal keep the whole lot nowadays.Rantband said:AFAIK Ebay like PayPal keep 30p per transaction, even after a refund0 -

It does show oddly and all paypal payments are now refunded net. On my last one it showed the payment, let's say £10 less 85p fees so I got £9.15, when I refunded it showed the buyer getting £10 and the £9.15 being refunded. However there was a separate transaction showing the 85 p charge as that a charge to me and nothing to do with buyer.Brywalker said:

It maybe just for commercial transactions. Since earlier in the year they have been keeping all mine.

I think if you list on the UK website and list worldwide shipping it's not a problem (I've shipped to Australia, USA, Germany, Italy, Spain, Croatia and many more under the new managed payment system with no problems). I think the problem occurs if you list the items on the individual countries sites separately.frederick10WR said:
And I'm curious about it as well, especially when we talk about travelling all around the world.charlies_mum said:I am ‘on the list’ but not switched on yet. I read that only the USA and a couple of European countries have signed up, so how do buyers in other countries pay ?0 -
I know the policy statement uses the word commercial transactions which some have suggested means business accounts only, but here is what paypal consider a commercial transaction :
When you buy or sell goods or services, make any other commercial type of transaction, send or receive a charity donation or receive a payment when you “request money” using PayPal, we call that a “commercial transaction”:

The fees are not refunded in any paypal account , they just show the retained fees in a strange way.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
