DH has just absconded with his wheelie suitcase - he has not left me, he is on a rescue mission to his office to get his plants and the books he needs to wfh for the foreseeable. The building is closing. He has plans to go to his fave middle eastern supermarket on the way back - he has not been out shopping for about 2/3 weeks (what can I say, he has a wife) I think he may be in for a shock. Either way, I do not like to be in a house without dried chickpeas in it (I still have 10 tins - they were on offer in Feb). I am venturing out tomorrow. Then apart from volunteering, I will be in isolation again. We are only having 4 volunteers in at a time, 2 on each floor. The local cornershop deli has put out a post that it has large loo rolls - 6 loo rolls in one, for sale. It reminded me the lady on the till in MrL's was telling me people were nicking their big loo rolls. That is exactly what my kids would accuse me of if I put a massive loo roll in the bathroom.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Dolly - I wish the media and people in general would stop speculating about what might happen and that the authorities would give us definite instructions. We came here on holiday by public transport almost a month ago before there was any guidance at all. We followed every recommendation as it has been issued. Not to use public transport, avoid pubs and restaurants, etc. I haven’t been outside since last Wednesday and Himself has only been to the two local shops to buy essentials like milk. We are showing no symptoms. My son is at home also showing no symptoms and can drive down at the weekend to take us home. No stopping or interaction with anyone else. Now they are apparently talking about driving to holiday homes being unnecessary travel. I could rent the cottage for another month if need be but I’m asthmatic and only have enough medicine until the end of the week. I am so stressed that I shall not be able to get home. I concede that I am probably worrying needlessly but it’s just an example how stressful lack of clarity can be
Anyway, I feel better for writing all that down. hope you are all safe and well. XxxHave adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.11 -
Toni's friend, you only have enough medication until the weekend, so your son coming to get you sounds marvellous, you are going home, not gadding about the place being a general nuisance or rollerblading. I am glad you are not showing any signs of illness. Your son will not be going on holiday, he is being a rescuing angel coming to take you home where you will not be as stressed and you won't have to be mucking about on Sunday service public transport . What a star! When the advice changes, we change our behaviour. You can't expect anything else from people.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

He certainly is. He was going to come down after he’s finished working (he’s working from home) stay over and then drive us back. I was just panicking because I thought that it might not be deemed necessary travel.
I think I’ve just heard the ultimate In selfishness. Friend of my nephew has a 90 year old father who is asthmatic. Someone stole his milk from his doorstep this morning. Absolutely appalling behaviour.
Thank you for the reassurance, F0xh0les.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.10 -

Your son coming to get you would not be deemed unnecessary. You absolutely have to come home. What a holiday.

Thank you for that, Dolly. We haven’t really minded staying in and reading, watching TV. It’s got to be done and we have what we need and are very comfortable. We don’t mind our own company and don’t need much.
I’m sure all will be ok.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.10 -
Evening everyone
I have survived the day and am feeling a teeny bit more positive than I have been in a while. I am expecting lockdown to be announced in the next hour or so. I think it needs to happen - people tend to ignore 'advice' - I had to turn away one of ds friends from the door yesterday who wanted him to go out and play. People don't seem to understand that the people you live with are your only option for the short term (thank God I don't still live with my ex).
I have been to work today - I did a half day before I was sent home. It's an ever changing situation there as it is for everything and everyone - the Head and senior management have put a rota on for the staff that are able to attend work. We're doing a half day a week in the building, two half days electronically from home and then working from home preparing a decent curriculum ready to go when school opens again. My half day is Friday, and I've volunteered to be on call if other members of staff drop off sick, as long as I'm able to. I was really disheartened to see how busy the roads still were and how full supermarket car parks were both at 8am and at noon.
Managed to get a few vital bits yesterday and am satisfied that we have enough supplies for the short term - just need to work on keeping in the routine that we have planned for each day. A bit of work, a bit of house stuff, a bit of exercise, a bit of contacting others and a bit of time to relax and do our own thing. I think the first thing to go will be the exercise if we're not allowed out and about for a good long walk as a three...but we shall see. I'm lucky that we have a fully enclosed garden that we can use to at least get some outdoor time as long as the weather holds.
Anyway - not making too many plans as we need to be flexible with everything at the moment and things are changing hour by hour...

Today I am grateful for a warm and safe place to be, for my family, for the sunshine, for dd getting on with her schoolwork (they are doing it in 'real time' so she is busy from 8.30-3.45), for dh collecting some things for me from work, for a tech-minded dh, for books and hobbies, for really good coffee (I excelled myself this morning
).

Feeling bewildered! I’m
ok for a few hours then a sense of dread comes over me. I’m now wfh as well as looking after ds. DH is wfh one day and in work the next however I think this is about to change to wfh. Being bombarded with suggestions for educational activities for ds but we are working so this will be incredibly hard so I’m not going to obsess about it or even do a daily schedule for now I’m just going to go with it and not stress about too much screen time. I will ensure we do things together as he must be worried and bewildered too.Had to buy a wireless printer today as all 3 of us need to use it and our old one is rubbish. Not at all budgeted for but will make things easier.
Will be decluttering now at the weekend and aiming for a 1.5 mile walk each day.
Will need groceries as now we are all at home eating lunch and needing drinks.Grateful for: technology, my family and a sunny day.
