Like I said I don't manufacture small transactions. But I regularly put £100 into my S&S ISA via Debit Card, so adding 1p on is no hardship. And on a transaction to a stockbroker odd penies don't look odd.

I think the type of transaction you were doing is more likely to flag as potential fraud than AML - but we're going way off topic now so I'll stop there!

I was unclear - sorry - I was trying to add a reason as to why the manufacturing of small transactions (like you said you don't do) is a bad idea.

They told me it was possibly AML questions (which did seem odd, it'd be a slow way to launder money). Potential fraud does seem a more likely reason for the flag.

NatWest - not sure it's worth the effort.

Applied for a NatWest Reward Current Account on (Bank Holiday) Monday, with a view to getting the Regular Saver.

Account approved immediately, but not appearing in online banking until today (Wednesday).

Regular Saver applied for and approved today (couldn't do it until the current account appeared on line), but can't view it until tomorrow.

Standing Order set up to fund the RS, but earliest date allowed for the first payment is a week away.

Tried setting up Direct Debits with Amex, Currensea, and PayPal. All declined. Amex want manual forms and a statement and will take 14 days to process. PayPal and Currensea just fail when linking. Never had this sort of issue setting up DDs before, so I think the issue is with NatWest.

Deposited £1250, and now can't withdraw it.

Feels like I'm getting 19th Century banking. But with an app.

I've just been through the same issues with RBS.
Opened and requested switch from Metro.
Took over 48 hours for the Select account to be set up and function for OLB and app.
Set up reg.saver and standing order, 10th may earliest date.

Paid in 1,250 from Natwest, instantly as expected, no issues.
Paid out 1,000 to Cov First home saver, already showing in CBS.
Just had text to say switch from Metro has started.
Not tried setting up DDs yet.

Though it takes a while for the account to set up, like Natwest, once operational everything works really well. The issues you had setting up direct debit should resolve when the new account becomes visible on the system.

You could send the deposit back by setting up a payee in the app. I think max £1k per day in the app.

I've never had any problems with Natwest  online banking, over many years, and now using the app. which is entirely functional and reliable. Hope the account works well for you.

My opening cheque was debited from my current account today but the passbook credited it on the 27th of April. I cannot see the account online yet even though I requested it on the 28th. So I don't know whether and when they have processed my May deposit, sent by SO yesterday.

My May SO from yesterday for the MONBS Xmas Saver also doesn't show yet.
  • I suspect MON have once again become overwhelmed and having problems.

My turnaround was extremely quick. Posted application 1st class Sat 22/04, cheque processed 25/4, passbook received 26/04.
I didn't request a/c to be added, it was done automaticallythis time.

However SO sent yesterday for both the Coronation and Xmas savers are still not showing online.

    Regarding the Natwest regular saver
It says 6% up to 5k but you can only put £150 max per month. It's there a way to increase the amount that's in there please?

Double round ups - but as per my above post, not a good idea now IMO

Edit - it was a post I sent today, but it’s not the above one
