Posted mine 22nd,  no funds yet but did get the letter apologising for the wrong mistake.

As opposed to the right mistake? :)

Lloyds Bank Monthly Saver (the 2% fixed one) - It appears to be possible to open one of these even if you don't have a Lloyds current account, provided you have a login to the Lloyds online banking site.
I've never had a current account with Lloyds, and have just successfully opened a Monthly Saver, and funded it directly from my Santander current account.
The application literally took a few seconds, and a few clicks (didn't even need to type anything) and the account appeared immediately.
In one day, well about an hour,  I opened the Lloyds Bank Monthly saver, TSB regular saver, Halifax regular saver & Bank of Scotland regular saver - all at 2% fixed and £250 per month. Very quick and simple.
I've now got all of them except BoS. 2% fixes look pretty attrictive now, especially the easy-access ones with no withdrawal penalties. I'm not sure whether to try for the BoS one, as visiting a branch could be awkward if that becomes necessary.

Did you know you need to hold a BOS current account to apply for a BOS regular saver?
I don't have either a Halifax current account nor a Bank of Scotland current account but I've opened both RSs in the last few months. Got some savings accounts opened by H and BoS from I think previous RS maturities, but I've never used them.
I don't have a login for the BoS site, but I attempted to open an RS using the 'new customer' form, and it failed with an error message right at the end.
I then decided to open an Access Saver, just so I could get a login, and then re-try for the RS as an existing customer. As is typical of my average luck level, the Online Banking registration went wrong, and refused to accept the password I had just defined 30 seconds earlier.
It only gave me 2 attempts before telling me to reset my details, which then proceeded to send me a one-time password through the post. No other options offered.
Under normal circumstances, I'd just ring 'em up, but it can't be considered "urgent" so I'll just wait for my postal OTP now.

IMHO, absolutely the wrong mistake, for which no apology was required. Whereas for the mistake of omitting vital withdrawal instructions, an apology would have been appreciated - again IMHO of course :D

With the cost of postage being what it is it must cost a fortune to put right these wrongs. Especially when it's a waste of time. I had mine this afternoon, hours after I'd been paid out. I had a letter two days ago from Halifax telling me that the interest rate on one of these savings accounts that they open without your intervention is going down to 0.01%. I've had letters about it too showing NIL interest paid and no fees and charges!
I know they have to do it.

I've been reliably informed that Furness BS will not be reducing the rate on their (now closed) 2.5% reg saver based on latest BoE interest rate cuts.
    Fair play to them.
Karlie's reliable informant was spot on:

    https://www.furnessbs.co.uk/content/images/page/files/FBS_Interest Rate in branch A4s-ANLA final version.pdf

The I Year Regular Saver (Issue 2) interest rate has stayed at 2.5%. I'm impressed with that and with the Furness Building Society in general for its quality of service.
Fingers crossed both you and Karlie are right! I had a look this morning and saw mine still said 2.5%. I was going to look tomorrow and see if it dropped, thinking it might take a day to change. So, if it doesn't, it was definitely worth my day-out free bus trip to Preston back in January to open it in that branch. I echo your appreciation for FBS's quality of service.

You have the option of selecting paperless communication from the online settings.

That wouldn't have stopped it as those T&Cs were due to have been sent with the maturity letter; they were correcting an oversight.

    Hi,
Firstly thanks for the update on what I find the most useful forum on here. Secondly as a newbie is there a way of going to page 1 to look at the updates without scrolling back page by page?
I’ve looked at the guide and Q and A and can’t find one.

    Thanks

There is a row of page numbers at the top and bottom of every screen (above the first post on the screen and below the bottom post on the screen) - just click on the number "1" and it takes you to page 1.
