I notice that these accounts will increase from 1.75% to 2.25% on 21st November.
Now my account matures on 30th November.  Does this mean they intend to allow them to rollover with £1 as they did last year?
There is no point of having  RSA paying less than 2.75% as Santander eSaver is now paying 2.75%. The exception is, if for some reasons you cannot get this Santander eSaver account. I started diverting most of my RSA if it is allowed to Santander or reducing the monthly contribution to minimum amount.
....yes there is a reason to have RSA paying less than 2.75%.
Someone who is maxed out with Cynergy & maxed out with Santander and who still has spare savings will look for the next best account.
Someone who has maxed out Cynergy and maxed out Santander would probably need to question whether they really need to have £1.25 million in cash savings.
  • Yes I agree but, I was referring to the £85K max protection limit.

The main reason that I have to use more than just the two banks offering 2.75% interest is in case there is a problem with accessing the savings to withdraw funds at short notice. A corollary to the reason to have several current accounts with different providers; remember Northern Rock.

Don't forget FSCS protection is doubled for joint accounts.
Also don't forget that some banks share their protection with other banks. Checker here courtesy of Which? Use our 'who owns who' tool to see how much cover you'd get.

TSB are offering 3% but only for current account holders.  Has anyone opened a current account with them just for the savings account?

Thanks for that.  I have no wish to switch current account so will have to pass on this offer.

I opened a TSB Current Account in January in order to get the 2% Regular Saver.  Simple to open.  No funding or DD requirements, but be aware that it produces a hard search on your credit files.

However, you can only open one Regular Saver in any 12 month period, and the interest rate is fixed.  I don't see 3% remaining attractive for very long, so I wouldn't open another one at present (not that I am able to).

There are several easy access 2.5% accounts, and even a 2.55% one now, at different providers so there's still no need to bother with those lower than 2.75% RSAs.

There are reasonable number of people are using TSB as saving account when they paid high interest. It reminds me when the got IT problem they bribe their customers with 5% high interest current account.
So take advantage of it while it lasts.
