    Remember it's the 20th tomorrow and we all know what happens at 1400 on the 20th of every other month....

    Virgin HBC 12 and hopefully a jump up to 2%
    Me thinks 2% is not enough. I'm using  my HB accounts as easy access from August.  I have little savings earning less than 1.75%
    See also report on BBC that BoE may increase rates by 0.5% in August.
    Just sorted a 5 year mortgage fix for 2.0% so savings going above in the near future would be quite nice. Can't risk opening no-withdrawal accounts right now but I have a few regular savers at 2-3.5% with no penalties to withdraw and the rest in Chase 1.5%.

    I opened a savings account with YBS in May last year, which has had a £10 balance, in the hope of a loyalty offer. I have now opened a regular esaver. Perfect  :)

    Strange reading this as I decided to close my Furness 3 year only a week ago. For me, even at 1.7% I think I would have shut it down, I'm only opening new ones over 2% and then only if I can get access to the money without penalty. When I'm getting over 1.5% on instant access I don't see the point, I've been putting all my spare cash in 90 day accounts @ 1.9% and giving notice as soon as opened. I feel the savings market is far to fluid just now to do much else but that's just my view.

    I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
    The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
    There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
    I listen all night for your step on the stair.

    I agree with your sentiments.  I have decided that I will, following the BoE rate change in the first week of August, then rationalise my whole range of savings.

    @Special_Saver2  Feeder account Virgin Money needs an update.

    Linked saving account now pays 1.56% interest on balances up to £25,000 and 0.75% on balances over £25,000.

    Evening all. As far as I can see Darlington Building society doesn't have any postcode requirements on their Special Occasion Regular Saver account. To be more specific, if you move out of the specified postcode area your account will not be closed. I know this for a fact because I was able to open two of these accounts and I am nowhere near the postcode area specified.

    I have a question. The OH and I are looking to open joint regular saving accounts with Saffron and Yorkshire building society. I have been a member of both for over 12 months, but the OH has not. Is this a problem? The second question is whether we need to have a joint current account for withdrawals first?

    The requirement is to live in the postcode areas OR be an existing member. In your case you qualify as an existing member wherever you live. For new accounts you can only open one if you are an existing member or live in the area

    The usual workaround for these types of restrictions is to open a savings account that has no postcode restrictions, such as their instant access saver (which is available nationally), and then you will qualify as an "existing customer" for any accounts which have limited availability. Applicable to most banks/BS, not just Darlington.
