'Telegraphic Transfer' refers only to CHAPS. Other withdrawal methods are free. See s.45 of the Savings Terms and Conditions.2

I haven't noticed this Saffron account come up on here - will not be suitable for most as need to be within the Essex area, can only deposit £50/month and cannot have with other regular savers but is paying 4%

Probably worth referring to this, first page, in the first instance. There may be others you've missed and want to snap up.1 -
Don't need to be in Essex. I just opened one and I live in Bedfordshire (SG Postcode). And I learned about it from the previous incarnation of this thread.Jimmithecat said:I haven't noticed this Saffron account come up on here - will not be suitable for most as need to be within the Essex area, can only deposit £50/month and cannot have with other regular savers but is paying 4%

You don't have to live in Essex but it IS post code restricted to their 'heartlands' area.Nick_C said:

Some Building Societies don't allow transfers out by Faster Payments or BACS, and the only other transfer options they offer are chargeable (e.g. CHAPS), but you can usually withdraw your money in the form of a cheque free of charge.missymouse said:I also noticed a tariff of £8 to transfer money out of Principality
I had always believed it was cash or cheque when collecting from matured RSs, but in the branch today I asked about FP in case things had changed (I was collecting the matured Issue 7), and was told yes, we do. But it costs £15! (it's because we're not a bank!) I made my feelings known, but nicely. TSB was next door but two, so I dumped the £3040 there and then onwards to the preferred destination by this afternoon.

Yes and no, depends on if you're opening at a Branch (yes) or agency (probably not).afis1904 said:It doesn't say you can't so I assume you can but is it possible to just open the YBS account with cash?0
