I also noticed a tariff of £8 to transfer money out of Principality
Some Building Societies don't allow transfers out by Faster Payments or BACS, and the only other transfer options they offer are chargeable (e.g. CHAPS), but you can usually withdraw your money in the form of a cheque free of charge.

    Nottingham BS
I had always believed it was cash or cheque when collecting from matured RSs, but in the branch today I asked about FP in case things had changed (I was collecting the matured Issue 7), and was told yes, we do. But it costs £15! (it's because we're not a bank!) I made my feelings known, but nicely. TSB was next door but two, so I dumped the £3040 there and then onwards to the preferred destination by this afternoon.

How quickly do they normally send out cheques when you request withdrawal by post? I'm still waiting for mine.

Mine have always come next working day - so I got the issue 7 one yesterday.
Do Money Saving sites make you buy more bargains - and spend more money?

I expect they were talking about CHAPS transfers,  which all organisations charge for.
So, TSB clear cheques the same day now, do they?

I overheard someone else enquire about a transfer when I was in a Nottingham Building Society, and she was told the fee would be £30, which sounded more of the level of CHAPS to me (and at the top end for that).

Perhaps someone needs to start another discussion which is just for advice on regular savers otherwise this thread is going to get too long.

Actually it did arrive today - the postman was much later than normal.
However, the cheque doesn't look valid to me as it isn't signed. It looks like someone has started to sign it as there is what appears to be a partial signature, but this has been scribbled out and then the cashier's reference number (which is also printed on the bottom left corner of the cheque) just written in pen where the signature should be.
I'm wondering whether to query it or just deposit it and hope it clears.

    There is a new
    Coventry BS Regular Saver
    Issue 2
    Worth mentioning T&C:
1.3 You can only be named on one Regular Saver (including any subsequent issues) at any one time.
This what is showing under by Coventry BS now under conditions:-
"This is a limited issue account and you can only have one version of a Regular Saver at a time."
    Note ONE VERSION.
Has anyone tried to open a second version of the Coventry RS yet?

    Just apply!
Coventry BS is like Principality BS,  VirginMoney, Co-operative BS, Tipton& Cosely which allows you to apply for a new version while you already have one with them. Other banks, building societies stipulate only one at a time so you have to wait until regular saver matures before applying for another.

This dumb new site won't let me add to my own post on the Edit facility!

I applied yesterday online and the account was opened the same day. However, I was denied the account details because I don't have online or telephone banking! For 'security reasons' they are going to post the details, where they can be intercepted by having the envelope steamed open.  We'll done Coventry, now you've also ensured that new customers can't quite get the full rate for their first subscription.
