  • Tipton Building Society have 2 versions of their maturing 1.35% RS. I opened a postal one in November 2020 which has a maturity in February 2022 and allowed 16 payments. At the same time there was an App version with maturity on 31/12/21 which allowed 14 payments.

    I have the Feb 22 account, and I view it via the app. I could be wrong but I don’t remember applying for it by post, but as I have so many RS I may have forgot.

    I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
    The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
    There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
    I listen all night for your step on the stair.
  • I've been ditching many of mine too. I plan to retain Bucks RS Locals (closed issue) at 1% as it has unlimited withdrawals, and a few open-ended ones at 1.25%. I'd maintained some lower paying ones to keep membership at building societies but I'm closing them now (Hanley, Beverley, Leek, Vernon etc) as they don't need the funds to lend out, I can't see them offering anything decent at any time soon.

    Are you aware that their underlying rate is due to increase to 0.25% wef 11 January 2022, so your £4 may disappear anyway :smile:

    Email from Furness BS on 16th about the Branch Regular Saver from January 2020, which rolled over (at a lower rate) in Jan 2021. Looks like there won't be a roll over Jan 2022 as an RS, but balance can be rolled over into a new fixed rate saver. Email says details to follow shortly. It was good while it lasted, but let's see what the new offer is, as their current savings rates are a little underwhelming.
    They do have a one year RS available to all, though it's variable rate.
    Furness RS is currently at 1% on £250pm ... so I might just go for a 1 year fix somewhere and not faff around drip-feeding from an Easy Access via/or from a Current Account. Plan B would be to stick the proceeds into one of my EA accounts for a short while and see if the 1 year fix account rates move upward.

    Interest of £57.24 already paid dated tomorrow Thursday 30/12.

    Does anyone know the date of maturity of the Feb 22 version of the account and do we need to make a payment on 1st Feb?

    Thanks.

    Interest (Capitalisation) paid on both of these Tipton accounts.

    On my ss I have the other one maturing on the 28/2/22 so I'll be making the Feb payment.

    But the rules for the account are that you can miss payments anyway.

    Hence the choice is yours!
