I'm now firmly of the view that Easter needs to be fixed as the 3rd weekend in April so that it cannot possibly clash with the end of the financial year! At roughly 5.30 pm this afternoon I sent an important faster payment to Yorkshire Building Society from my main current account with with one of the big banks and it is yet to show in my YBS account. I'm now very worried that it won't be credited for today, 1st April, and instead will be credited for 6th April which will cost me in lost interest in c.11 months time!

Edit: The YBS account is a Loyalty Regular Saver currently paying 3.5% so hopefully you can see why I might be a little anxious right now.
It's less than 4.8p a day, assuming you've deposited the full £500, in lost interest isn't it?

In any case the payment will be there later today if it's a FP.

Thank you very much for the reassuring words! Yes I did deposit the full £500 but in two chunks, one much smaller than the other, for safety reasons.
'Apparently' this was some weird April Fool everyone?!

    What a strange person

No, those two sentences alone were entirely genuine although I now fully regret thanking you at all when you so clearly wish to be so unnecessarily unpleasant! The paragraph above was in order to support the thread I created separately to this; that thread was the real April Fool! You can insult me as much as you like; it won't bother me at all, but just for the record, I'm very far from strange but I do have a sense of humour and I'm certainly not apologising for that to anyone!

I have been a poster on here since 2008 but I must admit your user name fascinates me! My user name is because I learnt to type when I retired

It's short for cricket, cider, music, liberalism and ale (which is the only bit in full obvs.) All things I really love, with music right at the heart of the word and the most important thing of all to me. I wanted to add tennis too but then I would have to become Tencricidmuslibale which looks a bit daft I think.

By the way I love typing, not only because it's very useful in itself which it undoubtedly is, but also because it greatly assists in keeping both the hands, all fingers and the two thumbs in a good position for playing the piano, organ or any other keyboard instrument. Typing frequently also helps me to keep all my digits as nimble and flexible as possible which again is very helpful for playing all types of keyboard instruments!

I am a penny pincher but today - distracted by the grandkids home for half term I sent my first payment to YBS to a saver account instead of regular saver and they have informed me my refund will not hit my current account until next banking day so my £500 is in lah lah land

  • I realise the post above has nothing whatsoever to do with regular savings accounts; it's just a friendly reply to a lovely, unexpected, friendly post! Apologies to anyone who may be bothered by it!

You are a breathe of fresh air do not apologise -  myself has been the butt of criticism but my bank manager has a wide grin

I'm genuinely sorry to hear that's happened to you! Did you open the regular saver what has now become yesterday (it was today until a few minutes ago) or almost exactly a month ago?

That's very kind, thank you! I haven't seen my bank manager since I left university, I don't know whether that's a good thing or not?!

It was my 3rd payment that went successfully in the end into my YBS regular saver. I thought because of the Bank Holiday my refund from my YBS internet saver would be delayed but it arrived in my current account this morning.
