  •  Only one RS allowed at one time - I will have to wait until my existing RS matures.
I'm not sure how strictly they stick to this.  At one point I had their ordinary RS (I forget which issue), the 170th Birthday RS & the Small Saver RS all open at the same time.  All of these were opened online so maybe the system doesn't check...
Today I was able to open the new i7 even though I had the Small Saver RS still active.

Saffron BS has launched an RS paying 1.50% fixed for one year on up to £500pm.  But it is for 'locals' only, which counts me out.

Thanks for this, luckily I do live within the Postcode areas so have set one up.
    Thanks again

Its a pity Saffron doesn't allow existing members who live outside their current 'operating area' to open this account like other societies do.  Particularly as the Saffron have chosen to condense their operating area in recent years.
I live in the E postcode area - part of historic Essex (they were the Saffron Walden, Herts and Essex BS) and joined via their old Stratford branch in the E postcode area over 15 years ago. I didn't leave the Saffron's old operating area - the Saffron did!
Come on Saffron - extend the area to include the E postcode you used to serve for decades. Or at least extend the accounts to all loyal long term members like me!! Am happy to go to Brentwood branch to say hi - its not far!

Yes I’ve not looked at the northern ones. Too far and tier 3. Looks like I’ll end up at Farnborough in the league. Only missed Bishops Stortford narrowly.

    Complete sympathy with this.
Ive been with them a decade but live outside the area.

Little room for sentimentality or loyalty nowadays.

I live in a town without a single bank but still has a Saffron Building Society!

Literally, within two years, first HSBC closed, then Natwest, Lloyds, Santander, Barclays and now  TSB! To top it off, our main post office closed last month because the roof fell down and they have no idea when it will reopen.
There is still a tiny sub PO with one counter within a newsagent quite a distance from the town up a steep hill. However, it's rumoured to be closing end of this month because it's changing owners!

Principality BS has just launched two new RS products: and you don't need to be an NHS employee to qualify for either!

    * RS Issue 23, 1.25% fixed for one year, max £250pm. This replaces Issue 22.

    * Christmas 2021 RS, 1.50% fixed for one year, max £125pm.  Importantly, this product won't accept applications until 12th November.

It is permitted to have both the above, in addition to any other products you may have from the same BS.

Where did you see that you are permitted to have both. I rang them a few weeks ago to open issue 22 & was told that as I already had a regular saver ( the current Xmas one ) It was not allowed to have more than one. So they wouldn't let me open it.

Take a look at paragraph 3 of the 1 Year Regular Saver Bond - Account Terms:
"this offer is limited to only one Bond of any given issue number for each customer".

  • Must have been a newbie you spoke to you can open both and as if is a different number you can open the normal regular saver as they are listed I have several

I've just opened i23 (thanks James) & already have i20, i22 & the current Xmas.  I open them through my account online....
