I live in a town without a single bank but still has a Saffron Building Society!

Literally, within two years, first HSBC closed, then Natwest, Lloyds, Santander, Barclays and now  TSB! To top it off, our main post office closed last month because the roof fell down and they have no idea when it will reopen.
There is still a tiny sub PO with one counter within a newsagent quite a distance from the town up a steep hill. However, it's rumoured to be closing end of this month because it's changing owners!

Principality BS has just launched two new RS products: and you don't need to be an NHS employee to qualify for either!

    * RS Issue 23, 1.25% fixed for one year, max £250pm. This replaces Issue 22.

    * Christmas 2021 RS, 1.50% fixed for one year, max £125pm.  Importantly, this product won't accept applications until 12th November.

It is permitted to have both the above, in addition to any other products you may have from the same BS.

Where did you see that you are permitted to have both. I rang them a few weeks ago to open issue 22 & was told that as I already had a regular saver ( the current Xmas one ) It was not allowed to have more than one. So they wouldn't let me open it.

Take a look at paragraph 3 of the 1 Year Regular Saver Bond - Account Terms:
"this offer is limited to only one Bond of any given issue number for each customer".

  • Must have been a newbie you spoke to you can open both and as if is a different number you can open the normal regular saver as they are listed I have several

Thanks, I checked that out & yes you can have more than one, though strangely it doesn't state that in the T&C's of the Xmas RS.
I just contacted them, chatted with a different person & they've confirmed you can have more than one issue. They've apologized, asked if I want to make a formal complaint ( I won't ) & will pass on my feedback. The question now is, is it even worth opening a 1.25% regular saver, 1.5% was questionable ( In my opinion )
    Thanks again for your post.

I've just opened the RS 23 which seems pretty decent. It's unclear from the T&C's if I can pay in a further amount in early November or if I must wait till the 22nd as the 1 month "anniversary". I'm sure one of you learned folk will know.
