  • Hanley Online Regular Saver (NLA) interest rate reduction from 5.5% to 5% wef 01/12/2024

A lot of their accounts drop by more than the 0.25% drop, this one is a blow, had intended to fund this quite heavily
I agree, a blow for me too as I like this regular saver as there’s no end date. Hanley didn’t reduce it the last time interest rates went down so they’ve made sure to go for the full 0.5% this time 😪

  • i have Santander Monthly Saver at 5%, since August which was hardly funded.
Can I refresh it quickly in the app?
or is there any 12 m restriction to open a new one?
    Thanks

Diddums :'(. I was about to revive this account. Though I suppose 5% might soon be desirable.

I've kept it ticking over too, the £1k monthly deposit limit is/was occasionally useful. Did need to fund at least £250/mth without too many gaps to maintain the rate.

If you had it since August 2024 it should be still opened and shown in your app. You don't have to fund it regularly in order to keep it opened. AFAIK there are no restrictions, you can close and open whenever you want.

Yes, I suppose 5% is the new reality.  I used it for debit card transactions to get £10 p/m from my two Halifax current accounts.  It fitted perfectly to match £500x2 requirement.  Need to think of a new strategy now, but definitely don't want to close this account.

I don't know the answer to that, I'll contact them tomorrow and see if I can get further info. I'll omit it from my list of rate changes for the time being.

Additionally the Leeds BS RS Issue 55 is listed as reducing from 5.25% to 5% on 24/12/24. I suspect this is a typo as IIRC Issue 55 was launched at 5.1% just before they announced their other regular savers were reducing to 5.1% after the previous BOE Base Rate change.

Apologies for failing to mention this earlier, I'd spotted the Leeds BS reductions towards the end of my break at work so was fairly rushed to report them onto the forum before I started working again.
Leeds RS 55 is now listed as reducing to 5.10% from 24/12/24
