Does anyone know if Vernon credit bank transfers and calculate interest on same calendar day received or business day for their regular saver account? Had a quick look through their savings terms but this doesn't seem to be specified in there.
    Thanks!
  • Aldermore - looks like you can apply for the issue 2 now, but you're not permitted to hold it in addition to issue 1: https://www.aldermore.co.uk/savings-accounts/personal-savings-accounts/regular-saver-account/regular-saver-account/
For those wanting to grab issue 1 the application link appears to still be live for now:

Just applied, thanks for the link, almost missed it. We talk again in 12 months about the 13th payment as the T&C don't state a maximum balance
  • Thanks Speculator, it is saying that if I don't want to renew I can open an Everyday Saver but would it do this instantly or would it roll over into this on the renewal date (21st?)  Sorry to be dense!
I always renew it to Everyday saver, then log out and log back in to open a new regular saver. Takes 5 mins.   You don't need to wait until the 21st.
Do you by any chance know if there is any hassle closing the Halifax RS prior to the 12 months renewal notification and then re-opening a new one.

Locking in the 5.5% for a further 12 months would be attractive at this moment.

Had no problems renewing my 4 month old Halifax RS then opening a new Halifax RS. I always use the renew technique.

No hassle.  Unlike with Lloyds and BoS, there's no 12 months rule with Halifax.
  • Do you have to pay £25 into the Halifax RS every month or just when opening it?

My 6-Month RS is full at £1200 and is due to mature on 20/12. It appears to make sense to close it now (it's permitted) and reopen. Does that work? TIA

Yes, but you do risk the product being pulled before you have a chance to reopen it.
