Most people have more than one relative and don't necessarily treat one above others[Deleted User] said:
Why don't people say a close relative of theirs is their hero?allegro120 said:
Dumb indeed. I don't have any heroes. I have a car that suits my needs, just one car, I don't understand the concept of "favourite car". I don't have any favourite films either.jameseonline said:

Still didn't work for me but did it OK on my laptop. The maddest set of security questions I've ever seen. I have no hero, no favourite car and favourite film is too many characters and has a space, as 2 words. Just had to make random stuff up and write it down!Digital_Payback said:Same happened me.Turn your phone sideways to landscape mode.It then works. Apply button on right hand side.

Screenshotted them too so I can answer should I forget.
You should be able to choose from a list or set your own question and answer.
Also dumb is no caps or special characters, goes against everything I'm used to with setting up online accounts tbh.
I've just made something up, wrote it down and will keep it together with other obscure things.
I don't understand why they don't use normal questions like mother's maiden name, name of school, birth place and similar things that are factual and applicable to almost everyone. The idea of making people to invent the answers and write them down is bizarre.
Mine is so found that simple.
Can pick one for the sake of exercise but I won't remember who I picked, so I have to write it down or take a screenshot. 1 -
They could go even more creative for questions. What's your favourite Chagall's painting? What's your favourite volleyball team? What's your favourite guitar? What was the first vegetable you ate (have to ask your mum if she remembers)?jameseonline said:
I guess normal means easier to guess so can understand their logic if so but yea.allegro120 said:

So possible answers for their questions, cadbury, nascar & romantic 😁
(didn't use those btw but that's being creative for answers)2 -
I agree, asking specific questions and limiting the number of characters is the winner. I'm used to "your first car" question, was going to use it for "favourite", but it didn't fit the criterion.wmb194 said:
Because these are relatively easy to discover through social engineering some financial institutions go with different questions. The stupid thing in this instance is that the fields were limited to just eight characters.allegro120 said:

"None", or "none" in the case of MHBS, is a perfectly valid answer to all sorts of questions, if you choose so. If you need more than 4 chars, "nonenone" or similar will do. You can do this even if you do have a favourite car, a favourite film, a favourite teacher etc - just "none" is much easier to remember, even if you do the sensible thing and make a note in a safe place of th answers you have given.

I telephoned MHBS 3 times and wasn't asked any ridiculous questions, just the usual security questions - name, address, DoB... I didn't know my account number yet, and even that didn't prompt them to ask me who my hero is.masonic said:

In my experience, it's usually when they call you out of the blue, and then ask for character 2 and character 6, so that once you've dredged the information up from the depths of your memory you then have to start counting on your fingersallegro120 said:

First Direct telephone banking springs to mind. It was about 30 years ago I had to make up and memorise questions, I still remember all answers for First Direct. It does take time to figure out character 6 in my long memorable word but I get there eventuallymasonic said:

And no spaces and character limit rules out so many people's favourite films and cars.jameseonline said:

I don’t drive, but I once chose a car question for a now defunct account and entered ‘Bessie’. Which is the Doctor’s car from Doctor Who. It was a shame that ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ was too many letters.2
