Also it seems you can only open the £50 regular via the site and not app, yet you can do an easy access saver in app, wonder why.
In my experience you can't open any account via the YBS app. They always refer you to their website

At the very bottom of your account list in the YBS app, you see this:

It’s been there for some time. Have you got the latest version of the app?

    YBS

They did ask if I had lived at my current address for 3 years (yes.) I did wonder if those having to answer no would be asked for an ID check. I have been meaning to close accounts I don’t really need, I have 7 and have only had the further checks message for the last 2.

I opened the £50 Regular via app but this was at lunchtime on the first day. I understand it temporarily disappeared after that so perhaps they changed it when they put it back up.

What ID are they asking for with mitek?
I selected no to the 3 years, so they asked for my previous address which I gave them on application and they've had before when I updated my address with them (think I did that via app) before the new regular existed.

Currently I have 8 accounts fully open,  2 regulars (where most of my current YBS balance is), 1 Rainy Day, 1 Easy Access (in name) , 3 Internet Saver Plus, 1 Loyalty Six Access 2023.

I had a 5.75% loyalty but had to close to free up funds.

Mitek/YBS want selfie, photo ID, and something to prove where I live I think, I don't have passport/driving licence so can only do 2 out of 3.

I think Mitek is new to me (in terms of YBS).

Previously accounts would just get rejected/not fully open leaving me to re apply (and then getting fully open) I re applied for the £50 today and applied for the new issue of their easy access both resulted in Mitek checks.

Seems Mitek checks might now be default for me even though I've been with YBS for years.

It's not a huge deal for me to be honest but I'm curious how YBS work with checks etc.

So like I was used to waiting a day or so for accounts to be fully open while they carried out further checks but it seems now Mitek is their default checking service or whatever?.

Might be a new thing but you can certainly do Easy Access account latest issue application through the Android app.

The £50 regular you have to do website though.

You get the same application experience (bar having to login etc) though so not sure why YBS have done things that way.

Yes, I do. Have you tried actually opening an account? It just refers you to their website..

Edit 17/9: New app update received that does now allow you to open some accounts in-app

I've come to the conclusion YBS want me to do ID with mitek no matter which account I apply for now, I can't do all of the ID so guess I'm going to miss out now.

I'm wondering if it's something to do with my current address but can't be sure.

Anyone know how long mitek has been a thing for YBS?.

Also maybe there's a certain amount of accounts you can have before they want to do checks on you?

Ahh well, been good being with YBS up until now.

Still got a 2023 regular expiring in a few days & a Xmas one expiring in November.

Also it seems you can only open the £50 regular via the site and not app, yet you can do an easy access saver in app, wonder why.
My record of opening YBS accounts is awful. Six applications this year, first two I had to post ID, next three Mitek (which probably started March/April). Went OK, at least it saved postage.
The last one did two Miteks that passed muster, at least with Mitek, but not with YBS. They found fault both times, possibly one of four but they didn't say which. Copy docs illegible (they weren't), might have moved house (I haven't) and I'm with all the outfits like Clear Score, Experian. Invited to apply again.

But I didn't. I've made a formal complaint to the head honcho(ess). So let's see what comes of that.

PS: Account numbers were allocated to the two failed applications, appeared on the app and then were removed.
    It's a joke isn't it?

Yes I don't get that either, like why publicly give you those details if the account isn't fully open yet?🤔

YBS seems to have numerous mysteries to me compared to other building societies, banks etc.

Another mystery is why on Android app is the your account matures in x days on homepage not always accurate/delayed?
  • YBS.

May just be me but I find the app almost unusable so always use online banking.

Sorry if this has been answered, I could not spot it in the posts at the beginning of the month when it appeared, anyone know how long it takes for the Coventry sunny day saver to be available to deposit in to?

I opened the account yesterday and got the account details at the end. It does not though show in my online account and if I try to send money to it (from another bank), it fails the checks and I cant proceed. So I assume its not actually open yet, hence the question.
Thanks again for those who replied, I did give them a call in the end. It seems even though I got an account number yesterday, the account did not exist in their system at all.
They could not explain what happened and I just simply opened another one while on the phone, it showed up instantly online and I paid in to it straight away too, sorted.
