Re: Nationwide RS2. Applied, error message, no email, account appeared in app after a few minutes.
Were you able to get past the income and employment section into the nominated bank account for withdrawals section please? Or did you get the error message before it reached that page?
Error message seemed after a timeout at the end of the application with two checking application messages.

Same here - said wait for an email and if no email, apply again.
This was with the App - will try next time with the laptop, assuming no email arrives.

Edit - tried again on the App, same error. Tried on the laptop, worked first time and account opened.
Do Money Saving sites make you buy more bargains - and spend more money?
  • I'm an existing NW member and have tried to open the new regular saver four times without success this morning. They are clearly having some problems, perhaps due to the number of applicants, or maybe some other IT issue. I think I'll wait until later today to see if the account appears on my internet banking and if not I'll try again.
I finally succeeded in opening this account. It might just be a coincidence, but it worked when I applied through the app instead of the website (even though the app process just opens a web page anyway!).

Tried applying via desktop for my wife about 10 times and got 10 error messages.

Just tried via app (2.45pm) and worked first time. She even received the welcome email.

Had to update the Nationwide app before applying.

No, but I'm wondering if you can fund them all with £200 each per month.  >:)
  • Slightly different message here than some have had I think:

That was the same as I got this morning - so maybe it will appear after a short while this time!  MrEH got the same message when he applied too.

This is now going to require a bit of wrangling for us - we've currently got a Principality £125 a month one each, and a Coventry (£500 a month) and FD (£300 a month) on the go - and no further spare funds now we have a mortgage to pay again as well. I think the plan right now is that we'll reduce the Principality ones to £25 a month each for the remainder of the term, to fund one NW, then use savings to fund the other until the Coventry one finishes.

In answer to the earlier question about whether there is any sense in maintaining a Start to Save as well, I have one that I plonk £50 of personal funds into each month, and I intend to continue to do so. It's little enough per month that it makes little impact on my finances, it's a decent enough rate of interest, and generally speaking I just forget about it once I've popped the transfer across each month. It's more a case of "no good reason not to continue with it" than the opposite, for me.
