Hallelujah;...at about the 7th time of asking I’ve finally got logged on to my account;...I did nothing differently during the App set-up procedure but after authenticating my i.d. it suddenly went to ‘device authentication ’ which it hadn’t done previously.
After hitting the ‘device authentication ’ button I was immediately logged in to my account!....didn’t need to enter the 6-digit pincode or anything, which was a bit odd!,...it obviously remembers the logon credentials from the previous set-up attempts and only asked for the 6-digit pincode after I logged out and logged in again.
I did a test transaction to my NatWest current account,...simple enough,...all ok.
I’ve been arsing around with this sodding App on and off all day!!!!!....still got my wife’s iphone to set-up!
Finally managed to get my wife’s iphone App downloaded and working properly last night after about the 5th attempt;...exactly the same faff as loading the App on my own iphone as detailed above.
If Al Rayan wish to withdraw online Banking then that’s their prerogative, but giving customers just a few days notice (2 days of which are system maintenance days!) is very unseemly, imho.

oh dear! it seems like all this kerfuffle is because it has been made in response to customer demand! or at least that what is claimed here:
https://www.which.co.uk/news/2020/02/al-rayan-to-shut-down-online-banking-in-less-than-a-week-what-you-need-to-know"Why is Al Rayan making this change? Al Rayan told Which? that it’s scrapping its online banking website in response to customer demand for more convenient and mobile-led banking."
so, ok, fess up guys, which of you demanded more convenient and mobile-led banking? since it wasn't me, clearly it must've been one of you lot! no?
hmm. something fishy here methinks.

Logging into my account via the App has now blocked me from using online access via my laptop;...when I attempt to logon online I get this message:
“You have been refused entry into this site.
Your user login is currently blocked which could be for a couple of reasons: A failed security check or you have recently registered for the latest Mobile Banking app. For support call: 0800 408 6407.”So, my online access has disappeared a few days earlier than I expected;...not really worth ringing the support line.
