The Compers Inn (part 49)

Morning, it's going to be another hot day here and I have the fan on already. My updates are the same, they always seem to do it when I first turn the PC on and then it takes ages to get into a competition post. Mind you my PC is getting on now. I started some gardening yesterday and my back went within 10 mins so gave up. I took double meds all day and although there are twinges the meds have worked. I am going to try again today but take it slowly and see how I get on. Good luck with comping in June
Have a good day

Morning. Hot already here too Indie. Sorry to hear about your back yesterday pleased to hear the meds helped. I find gardening really tiring so can only do about 10 - 15 mins at a time but it’s surprising how even a little helps. There’s still plenty to do here. We had a lovely day yesterday having meals out there and we are lucky there is some shade. I’ve really cracked the scones (it’s only taken a year) and we had some Kent strawberries too. Firefly the best strawberries I’ve had for ages were two years ago from Tesco. Hope you have been able to sit out a bit too.DD1 went with GS to visit DD2 and her two on Sunday and spent ages in traffic on way back yesterday but they all enjoyed the meeting up. We have GS end of the week as DD1 has to work the whole week.Duncan hope you are enjoying your walks and taking care of Dad. We need to make the most of the light evenings as Indie said it’s June already.Take care.
PS. Indie hope Charlie is better soon. Really made me smile at the vet saying he should keep still. Some hope.2 -
Good Afternoon
Lots of sun, heat and worst of all for Dad, UV levels through the roof.
I am only getting short walks of about a mile and a half to two miles as even with cream on, Dad is sufferring, at least he is taking me out every hour or so to make up for missing our long walk.
We have not been down to the coast yet, that may be tomorrow (no schools off here).
Little and often is also Dad's solution to gardening and he does most of that in the evenings, the peony has flowered and straight away toppled overbut still looks good with the contrast of the bright red against all the surrounding green. Lots of birds still coming to the feeders and also using the water feature as their own personal fountain to splash about in. Next job is to cut back the mahonia so extra thick gloves and the long loppers will be needed.

Morning very heavy weather here already. Think we are going to have lots of rain today. It was very hot here yesterday. DD1 brought GS over very late last night. She’s not been able to take time off work this week as it’s busy a busy. I was going to take him up to the park today but depends on when the rain comes.
DD2 might come by herself this evening if her Husband has the children. It’s at least two and half hours by car each way but it will be good to see her. Seems we are slowly taking a step back to normal.Indie thought of you working yesterday hope it was not too hot there. Pleased to hear you are able to book half days again. Full days seem very long. Did you make it to the vets with Charlie? We have fruit and veg box delivered overnight so this morning can see we have rhubarb so I’ll make a crumble.Duncan hope you have had some good walks and made it to the coast. Dad’s garden sounds lovely. One of my friends used to have a peony so can picture yours. We have some roses. A very old bush that was planted over 40 years ago and has flowered and an yellow rose that has lots of flowers. Great idea to do a bit of gardening in the evening.Take care.2 -
Good Morning
Sunny and hot here already but no sign of any rain so Dad has been out with the hose already this morning.
He is getting very sneaky on our walks, I heard the bin lorry up ahead but we took a wee detour down a side street and somehow came out behind the lorry as it worked it's way down the street we were on originally so I missed out on a good barking session.
I made up for it on the next walk (to the park) when I found 3 footballs, Dad got to the first 2 before me but I got my teeth into the third one and he had to let me carry that one home.
Looks like we will get to the coast today, it will be a circular walk with half along the shore and half coming back along a path through the woods, should be about 5 miles (ish).

Morning, we have had heavy rain here today already leanfun. It's stopped now so hopefully that's all we have today and the clouds have moved on. I hope your DD2 can visit tonight, you can have a good catch-up with all the news.
The vet visit was interesting as she pulled and poked Charlie's legs and said he has (mild) arthritis in all legs but his back leg she thinks it's his knee joint and said he may need an operation. She has given me some meds and said come back in 10 days and we will take an x-ray if there is no change, then he may need to see an orthopedic vet for an operation. Which will be expensive. He didn't make a noise when she was pulling it around and he has now started to put weight on it and only holds it up when he runs so we shall have to wait and see.
Duncan, shame you missed the dustman but well done to your dad for his quick thinking and taking you a different way from them. Enjoy your visit to the coast later.
I am off till Sunday, and DS's GF has her friend coming for the weekend so no quiet house for me, lol
Have a good weekend

Good Morning
So glad that Dad's family never visits, I don't think that I could take the tension in the air.
Great walk down at the coast yesterday, we went from West Wemyss to East Wemyss and came back by Coalton of Wemyss just to keep it in the family, the path was quite busy going along the water's edge and we met lots of nice people and dogs, I also got to chase a weasel (or stoat) and plenty of squirrels, the path back is less well known and we never met anyone, total of 5 miles.
Silly Dad drove down to Lidl this morning still with his slippers on

Morning. Warm but overcast here this morning. We had a great time with GS on Friday despite not being able to go out. It rained most of the day. He helped with the baking in the morning. We made a Mary Berry recipe of brioche bread pudding that he could do by himself (I add some orange zest and orange juice to the egg and milk recipe). We made some scones and the rhubarb crumble.DD2 came and it was great to see her as we had not seen her since February last year. DD1 and GS came back yesterday and we all had a meal out in the garden. We found some shade but at one point DD1 said she could smell something horrible. DH said that will be the tree. We were near a bush that is now a tree. Just looked it up as I had forgotten it’s name. It’s a sambucus and in flower it does smell of cats pee I panicked thinking I can’t smell it but DD1 said it didn’t smell much and I thought I could smell everything in the kitchen. So the joys of eating out in the garden. It’s all quiet again here now.
Duncan pleased you made it to the coast. Sounded like a great trip with good weather and plenty to keep you busy. Your Dad driving off in his slippers made me smile.Indie do hope Charlie does not need an operation and the meds help. Pleased to hear you have been able to spread out your working days. Hope today is not too strenuous it’s very warm here.

Good Morning
I have hardly seen Dad all morning (so far), apart from the 2 walks he has been busy in the garden before it got too warm and burny.
He has decided the time has come to remove the conifer that he and his Mum bought together and then it was brought to his garden when Mum died as a sort of keepsake. The tree was damaged by another bush being too slose to it and also by the weather at the other side and no matter what treatment Dad gave it and all the pruning, no new growth has been seen on those 2 sides for over 3 years, the tree is healthy otherwise but it looks awful and dead at the sides, The garden shredder has been going for about 2 hours already and only half the tree is down and binned, we will need to borrow next door's bin for the other half.
We are going out now to buy me a new lead as I have partly chewed the current one, I get bored sometimes if we walk too far and there is nothing to sniff and also if I notice that we are going home and I want to stay out, I grab the lead and pull backwards. Not sure what colour to get this time, I have chewed my way through red, blue, black and started on the yellow one.

Morning. Very warm here already. Duncan your Dad has been really busy. It sounds very sad to loose a special tree but seems Dad did everything to save it. Sounds as though you get through a number of leads with your chewing. Hope you like the colour of the new one.GS’s school was closed yesterday for teacher training. I had told DD1 we would go over and take him out for a bit but didn't realise how tired we would be after the weekend. We did make it over there yesterday afternoon and took him to his local park but it was still very hot. There seemed to be quite a lot of traffic but both there and back was just over half an hour each way. Thinking about it it’s way over a year since we had been there.Take care.2
