Got the PM (now known as 'Just You') - and a notification email, so looks like you can't disable incoming PMs and the notification function doesn't work properly. Also looks like you can only ignore up to five people which is a little optimistic

Been thinking back. I turned off notifications of posts on threads I subscribe to after a post from ivyleaf who clicked on things to see what they did. Go into your profile, next to notifications there are 3 lines . Click there and scroll down and you will see various things you can opt to leave ( with a choice of receiving via email or pm) I opted only to keep on site pms.

That's probably what Helebore posted about. Just remember to click on the 3 lines on the right hand side of Notifications.

My mum had a saying " These things are sent to try us^ I reckon she was right.

Sadly I don't think we are going to see JackieO again as she has deleted her account. If she does come back, I doubt she'll need to identify herself as her posting style is very idiosyncratic. As is mine 

I think usage of the site would build up again much faster if we can see who is online as we did previously. It felt like we could have a proper online discussion - what we have now has a "pen pal" quality to it and that just kills our momentum.

I’m really sad to hear that JackieO isn’t posting anymore, and has even gone as far as to delete her account. I feel like I learnt so much from her on her, and really enjoyed reading all of her posts- especially the ones about the war. I really hope she comes back 🙁

It makes me sad that so many valuable contributors have felt like they can’t join in anymore. They’re the heart of the OS forums.

I wasn't party to any comments by JackieO about why she wasn't going to continue to post on the new style board but I wonder why she did that.

Doesn't it means that nobody can search for her old posts?

I know you can search for posts if you know someone's username but if the username is just 'archived user' or whatever, how can you search for old posts by a specific ex-user?

I've tried putting in a search in the box at the top of the page and got nowhere and also tried putting in a google search for 'mse posts by JackieO' and got her online cookbook but nothing else.  If someone leaves are all previous posts automatically deleted from the system?
