I too clicked on @pollycat and got your profile page on screen Polly.

I think if you simply stop posting, your old posts are still there for someone to search for.

I'm not sure how good the search function is on the new system but on the old I often used to search for things like 'cashmere' if I was looking for a post about a charity shop bargain.

Or 'dhal' if I was looking for a specific recipe in a post.

However, if you delete your account, it will (I think) still show the threads started and posts made but they show the username as 'Deleted User'.

So you can't search for a specific post made by that 'deleted user'.

It think it's such a shame that all that great information has been lost (in that you can't search for it by username).

I wonder if JackieO knew the implications when she deleted her account.

That's correct - I want them to not be able to send the PM at all. I get extremely anxious if I get a PM after the really nasty one; and am considering deleting my account because this worries me so much.

The first thing that happened when I logged onto the new forum was that there was a PM waiting for me. It was an ordinary one, just asking for some info, but my stomach did flip-flops just seeing that there was one. My nerves don't need that.

Even if I turn off both pop-ups and email notifications, PMs can still be sent to my in-box.

When I searched I typed in JackieO , I did get deleted user , but Jackie signed her posts Jackie O at the end . These are the posts I could see.

LameWolf the forum seems to be having small changes made nearly every time I look at it, I hope that the no PM facility will be another thing that is dealt with soon, if you feel that you can hold on a little longer. Sending you best wishes and many "spoons".
The furry one in my avatar hopes that you are still having doggy B&B guests.

I cannot believe how few posts there are compared to previously. Sometimes I feel like I'm having a conversation with myself!

I don't think I've much to say at the moment - very busy de-cluttering & archiving. Managed four hours in the garden though which has put the wind in my sails

Try going over to the Garden Fence thread. They've been having a party tonight. Some very funny posts although they ate all the food and I didn't get so much as a crumb.

I think it’s harder to keep up without the digest emails.  I used to devour them in the mornings, before starting work.  Instead, we have the option of being bombarded by individual emails, throughout the day, or nothing at all.  If you do get emails, from ?yesterday, they now only show the first couple of lines of the post, not the whole thing, which is even more annoying.

Perhaps new people will find mse and join as members and the threads will be revitalised? if old posters are finding the new format not useable for any of a number of reasons including a preference for the older still formats and chosing not to use it any more then new people joining will not have known anything else.  Life is all about change and change is difficult if it's not of your own personal choice. The forums will weather this I'm pretty sure because it's a very useful medium and contains many lovely people and it will be different from how it has been but it will be just as vibrant and amusing and useful.  Give it a bit of time.
