A sadness that so many OS stalwarts aren't here now isn't it?

I think this is par for the course with just about any forum. The software becomes obsolete and the forum becomes unuseable then the inevitable re-vamp causes no end of problems & irritation. The question then becomes does the owner have the budget/time/inclination to fix the problem or just instruct the development team to bodge it. In the grand scheme of things, we're mainly creatures of habit, so really this is just like having the YS section in your local supermarket moved: Downright annoying, but you get used to it and even begin to appreciate the change - IMHO
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?8 -
Reading through this thread, I share the frustration about a lot of the changes. BUT at the same time, I get the feeling that OS is getting a bit of a reboot. Like many others I had a few threads that I read and posted on regularly and often found I didn't have time to get into other long running threads. But this thread in particular is bringing together people who have hung out on lots of different threads. I'm finding it interestingIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!9

I'm hoping as the snagging continues and hopefully issues raised by posters are addressed the option to turn off pms will happen. I feel it's something that comes under Disability discrimination. Anyone who's had an abusive pm would require an option to turn off the messages . Those will fragile mental health do not need to live in fear of random messages.Hope you're both plodding on Wolfy and there are some furry friends around.Take carepollyxxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

I can post a screengrab of what I can see on my profile editing page if that helps - assuming it's browser related problem.

I can post a screengrab of what I can see on my profile editing page if that helps - assuming it's browser related problem.I'm not personally concerned about pms. As I mentioned earlier i only read messages from those I know. However a number of posters with long posting histories have had cruel and abusive pms. Once that's happened the fear remains of it happening again for a number of people. I tried to delelte some older pms from my acct but couldn't see how although it was obvious on the old platform. The main problem seems to be a lack of info on the new platform.I've been having weather related internet problems so not much time to post.I can see a number of positives now. The old forum used to send posts off into the ether often. I've only lost one post on the new format and that was painful fingers I suspect.I'm on a laptop with Firefox. FF seemed to be a problem on the old siite and had hissy fits, no problem now..If you can see how to turn off pms it would help many I expect.pollyIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

I think, if you go into 'profile', go into 'general' you will find a bit saying 'notification'. At the bottom of list there is a bit saying 'notify me of private messages' either by email or pop up. I think you then untick both, and maybe that stops any untoward messages getting to you.7

That sounds interesting Helebore. I'm ok with pms so we need someone who wants them turned off to try it. I would but not sure I could reverse it afterwards.pollyIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
