  • Probably the 15th or 16th.

I have just got my advent calendar out from under the bed, it's one of the wooden ones with the little drawers with little wooden toys in it.

I've also got a fabulous advent calendar I got from the Book People 8 years ago. It is a stand up mouse 'factory' with 24 teeny tiny books in it. Each book has a little story in it about the mice getting ready for Chrsitmas whilst helping Santa. I had it on my desk at work every year but now I'm working from home it will be proudly on display in the office at home.

Mine are late usually on Xmas Eve I will put up a swag on the fireplace, and put up the cards, Boxing day the cards will be binned and the swag put away for another year, meanwhile fiancee will be putting up 3 trees  to counter my grinchiness. At least next year I will be in Thailand for Xmas :D

I have never understood why people decorate the outside of their houses:confused:

Are you my brother in law:confused:. I take it you don't have children:confused:.

We aren't putting any up this year. I'm going away to OH's parents and Mum is spending Christmas Day at her sisters, she's not a fan of Christmas so has said she wont bother.... I'm going to get one of the £5 trees from Sainsbury's for her!!

  • My neighbour has had her tree up for about 3 weeks!!

And I know someone who used to take their decs down on christmas day evening!!

Make a real tree last by standing it in water and keep topping it up throughout december. I used to work in a garden centre and so many people brought trees back which had stood in dry buckets, wondering why they were dead!

  • The woman opposite has just taken down her decorations from last year cause she's moving tomorrow, if she wasn't moving they'd still be up.

No way! are they the same people that have a Christmas dinner every day?

Ours are going up next weekend and will be down the 12th night, boooooo. The house always looks so bare in January.

First year spending Christmas in our house and people visiting us so we'll have our first real Christmas tree and some decorations inside.

When I was growing up my dad and brother went and bought the tree the weekend before my mums birthday and we'd put it up around her birthday (17th December) and I'm planning on doing the same in our house.

I'm another one who thinks starting now is far too early - I'd be bored of it by Christmas but saying that I'm fairly traditional when it comes to Christmas e.g. church services and stuff and I don't have any children.

Mine are going up Saturday... Want to spread it out a bit more this year so that every day is christmassy. So I'm going to make a 'Christmassy To Do' list and insist that OH co operates!! We'll start with Xmas decs Saturday, whilst listening to some of the Xmas Cds I've made up while he's been away (Assorted Tony Hancock, Steptoe etc Christmas specials as well as some christmas albums), Then it's the cards, decorating outside of house, making mulled wine, (several different recipes so have to give them all a go), cooking mince pies etc
    I just love it!!
