Yes Id gone to bed and switched everything off.

Poor hubby couldnt manage the stairs so slept in the lounge.

Funny thing was Id left my bedroom door open in case he needed me in the night (he's 43 by the way) and I didnt hear a thing. Apparantly all the decorations were jangling and it was crashing about and he tried to sort it out but I still didnt hear him.

I stripped it all back and shampooed the carpet. Then I went out shopping.

When I came back several hours later he had hoovered and reassembled the tree. It looked better than it did the first time - lol.

I wasnt angry at all. It was funny. A story that will be told through the family for years to come. Im just glad no harm was done.

I would prefer it tho if he didnt do it again.

We put our tree up today, did the celing decorations and got the tinsel and lights on the tree when my 18 month old was napping, she was full of wonder when she came downstairs and kept pointing at the tree, I said are you looking at the beautiful star on the tree? Where is the beautiful star? thinking she would point to the huge sparkly one at the top of the tree and instead she went and pointed to the little yellow one I crocheted her and put in her advent calendar

That's just soooooo cute! Bless her! I bet you felt really proud! (My grotty 3 year old just told me a slug he can see out the back doors is 'byoo-full' so I can't really trust his opinion on these things...)

Our tree went up yesterday, we bought a real one 'cause our house is very traditional and our new decs are all natural materials and either handmade, or handmade looking! Pine cones and felt shapes, wooden reindeers, and so on. I'm really pleased!

So far we've not got anything on the ceiling (we couldn't find our drawing pins!) and my son and I will be making lots of pretty things to go up on the walls - he's three, so I expect there will be lots of glitter involved. Can't wait! :D

Mine went up on saturday (1st).... its not a masive tree but im pleased as last year we had a tiny one as the cats drive us mad.....but i had to get a decent size one this year-even if i do have to shut the cats out of the living room for a few weeks!

Its looking lovely, gold and deep red/purple!

This year i've decided not to have a tree, and instead will be going to the local woods next weekend to get some brushwood which i'll spray glitter-silver, and hang my lights from that. could look quite classy, i think . cost - about £2 for the spraypaint, i guess. i will also be cutting a few sprigs of holly at the same time and will carry home in a ruscksack. I think these measures will decorate the house nicely and probably save myself about £40 ,all told!

    Is this really tightfisted?

Put mine up last Saturday cos I knew we would be really busy this weekend and next. Big mistake.

Hubby went out last night. Came home p***ed and tangoed with the tree then p***ed all over it and the presents.

sounds like you hooked a real catch when you married him!

not allowed to put ours up till after Sinterklaas (4th/5th Dec, Feast of St Nicholas which is a huge holiday in the Netherlands - OH is Dutch) so will probably be 8th/9th, after the house has had a good clean out. Might even leave it later, though, as i've so much to do that it doesn't feel like christmas yet and if the tree goes up i'm really going to feel the pressure! ours is a little fake tree we got off freecycle, looks quite good. :)
