Good morning diary and friends.
I have survived until payday! This is something of a feat considering its January.
I am trying to not use this month's money till Feb just to give us a bit of a headstart each month. As Jan is five weeks I've left enough for what we need to finish off Jan's bills and for a week's groceries and fuel and transferred the rest into a savings account. I intend to do the same when Mr M_F is paid and will then only transfer back what's needed for bills for the week and top the weeks groceries and fuel back up to the budgeted amount.
I'm hoping this way it will be more like a cash system where we don't see the whole amount as spendable and we end each week at zero if that makes sense.
So if I have Ten pounds left out the budgets end of this week I will deduct that from next week's budget. Hopefully this will allow a bit of a buffer to build up in the weeks where we don't spend as much and stop the wasting it on a takeaway etc.

Happy Payday! Mine is today. We have definitely ended up in the red. I like the idea of building up a buffer for the following weeks.

Hopefully you are less in the red than last month, more in the dark burgundy moving gradually but steadily towards the blackDedicated Debt Free Wanabee 🤓

Carrying weeks spends over is a good idea….I, on the other hand, tend to get a bit giddy and spend it all in week one. reverse carrying over? Paying it backwards? Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

We always did too WW but we are determined to crack this debt free lark once and for all. Then mortgage to go then consider what pensions are like and can we go part time. Of course I have big dreams of new kitchen and bathroom (needed but not right now) and downstairs extension for laundry and loo but in reality if the stairs get too much we could move to an apartment.
I need to get my champagne lifestyle on lemonade budget ideas out my head and concentrate on what's really important.
