i can really spam the boards.
  • I really miss the button where you could press to say you've read it, without going into the actual post. It really helped me keep track of the comps I'd entered and which were new ones.

Congratulations on a large and complex move that from the user end went easily and well.

Normal "only mention the trouble points" service will resume shortly but for now bask in the warmth of a well deserved move success celebration!

I'm getting more used to it now.
Some bits I really like and they outweigh the bits I don't.
    Still very early days.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

Its ridiculous that you have to change your password when you re-sign in.
Standards for securely storing passwords have changed a lot and it's likely that the old way was obsolete. Even quite old software didn't store an actual password but instead a cryptographic hash of one. While in theory it's possible to reverse some cryptographic hashes then use the recovered password there are lots of technical issues and if for greater security they chose to store only part of the hash it would be impossible. That's why it's typically done as they did it, with human intervention for the failure cases.

I hear people have had warnings, no warnings received here. I never log out and I block pops up cant blame people for doing it to much advertising from many sites
It was done with an extra forum banner that ad blockers wouldn't normally block.

The troubling group for me is the ones who didn't get the notification email and who were given just two days to notice a forum post and fix the problem.

What is the point in changing from a forum that worked to one that is a complete an utter mess, adds no benefits over the old forum, and is less user friendly?
It might save MSE a lot of money in licensing and support fees. The underlying technical design could use resources more efficiently. At least some of the features seem better.
