What small DFW things will you do w/c 3rd February?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

  • Happy new week everyone :hello:

I’m off our shortly using my annual membership, so a quick post before I’m out the door. My list:
Take snack with me - friend treating me to a brew ;)
Go for a decent walk whilst we’re there.
    Leftovers for meals
Lovely to pack DD off with hm goodies in her lunchbox for school today
    Bit of washing
    Text pal
Sort a few things for charity bag
    Check PMP

I’m sure there will be more. Check back later. Purps.
  • -get books from library to dampen the temptation of buying books because PAYDAY (done)
-order books I’ve been thinking about (secondhand and cheap, I mean £8 for two cheap) (done, I am good at spending)
-order new bullet journal as I am 2 pages from the end of the current one (done, see above! £4.89 on Amazon for a high quality A5 notebook, thick cream pages… lovely)
-crack on with reading and re reading the books I have. I have three re-reads on the go at the moment. Classic.
-listen to drama/knowledge podcasts on the way to/from work. Makes me feel like it’s not a massive waste of my life plus it’s free!

-set reminder to check my royalties monthly. Pennies but still. I still need to rebuild the £100ish from last year as I will be paying it to a charity - it arrived in dribs and drabs so I spent it without realising whilst waiting for a payment of £100 to come in. Doh.
-write and submit a couple of things. Have been out of the game lately, need to get back in.
-move money to Monzo pots as per the Plan to not put anything on credit this year but instead (gasp) pay for it as I go.

-do surveys and pick my postcode
    -check banks daily
    -check school meals balances (done)
Reset Virgin standing order as I have been paid normal money this month

-eye appointment this week to see if I need a special lens or just exercises
-finally got date for ultrasound scan but luckily am feeling miles better so fingers crossed it’s all nothing
-expect results of blood test this week - was so nervous about it last week but now feeling more positive as symptoms have all but disappeared
-continue therapy from the NHS. Is it actually helping? Dunno.

-pack lunches and restrict coffee! I gave in 3 times last week to drive thru coffee on the way to work, was feeling so anxious that I wanted the virtual hug.
-send the non-christmas gift to my friend that has been sitting there since the Jan sales

-cancel membership of an online thing that I let go last year in case I got back into it, but now have decided it’s not giving me any benefit. It costs £100/year at the moment, one payment - if I rejoin in the future my ancient deal will not be available and it would be £37/month. But right now I am just not involved in this thing. (STILL NOT DONE! Why am I dithering? Would I miss it, this community I’ve hardy been involved in for three years??)

-continue to write down spends in my bullet journal

Morning, got car share wrong and I was driving, lucky I didn't walk down to the pub (where we meet).
Brought hummus, carrots and sourdough rye for lunch.
Bought coffee and milk for coffee club at work and remembered to bring it.
Booked MOT on last day. (Luckily don't have any plans the following day).
Renewed car tax yesterday before going shopping, lucky the same as it ran out on Friday. Could not find my reminder!
Took fish out of freezer for later, ds might cook or I will when I get home.

Will call car insurance and try to get a re-quote as found a quote online for £29/mo instead of current £45. As it is now over a year since I had a run-in with a ladder that fell of a car in front of me.

Have found free exercises online to do for my ankle, will have to save up for physio.

I forgot to list that I need to update my spending book, it has been hiding in my work back pack.
