I do it the other way around, on my phone it is one of the icons to give options on various things on the page I am viewing (in other words, I hit all the gizmo's on the screen until one pops up that gives me an option to do something I would like).
I'm not great with doing stuff on Ipads and Iphones though, mum's one frustrates me so much I just want to throw it out of the window due to loss of functionality on sites. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

At a guess, maybe you hit the Quote button twice because the first time didn't open the typing box fully so it wasn't clear that the Quote button had been pressed. I've found that it doesn't always and that I have to hit the expand button (two diagonal arrows to the top right of the unexpanded box) to expand it, then again to shrink it to the correct size.Pyxis said:Sorry about the double quote..it keeps doing that!
I just tried not expanding the box but hitting Quote a second time and, sure enough, your post did get quoted twice - but I cancelled and quoted again, once.

It looks like that's a way to get something like the MultiQuote function that we used to have - instead of, as we used to do, clicking the MultiQuote button for each post you want to quote followed by the Quote one for the last post, hitting Quote for each post in turn adds them to the quotes in the edit box.chris_m said:

It does, however, only work if all the posts are on the same page

Yes I hit it twice...... it’s very, very sensitive........but trying to amend mistakes such as that is sometimes more than flesh and blood can stand when one is grappling with a mega giant keyboard that won’t go away, and sundry other problems on a new forum design.chris_m said:

Hitting the Back button and starting again may be easier than trying to edit out the double quote.Pyxis said:

What icon do you hit on, though? I don’t see any icons that might be ‘desktop v. mobile option’.SingleSue said:I do it the other way around, on my phone it is one of the icons to give options on various things on the page I am viewing (in other words, I hit all the gizmo's on the screen until one pops up that gives me an option to do something I would like).

I'm beginning to feel rather glad I've only got an elderly laptop....4

The icons are on my phone, not part of MSE.
On my particular phone and browser it was 3 lines on top of each other

I hope that comes out as it should!
Edit - the lines are slightly closer than that.We made it!
