This is lovely! (for the south of England). And a proper video tour for a 4-bed family house.
Great views, tiny hamlet nestled in the woods... but there's a washing machine right in the middle of the kitchen. Like a washing machine kitchen island... don't get it

A house that size I would expect the washing machine to be in a separate utility room to keep it's noise away from your living space.

I've banged on about this before and will again. Why (o why) do we/our house builders think we want to wash dirty clothes where we cook and prepare food? It makes no sense. Put the machine in a bathroom where clothes are removed (or utility if you must).

Also that chimney stack is way too domineering. Decor from the 1970s. Didn't like at all.

I suspect our bathrooms aren't big enough.  Also, in the UK we like to hang our washing outside to dry, so want the wet clothes to be downstairs, not upstairs.

In that house I would find or make a cupboard downstairs for the WM.

It is a shame our wiring regs don't allow sockets in bathrooms because they think we are too dumb and would kill ourselves.  In some more enlightened countries, the normal place to find the washing machine is in the bathroom, usually next to the shower, where you will also find a handy socket to plug the hairdryer into.  They don't seem to make a habit of electrocuting themselves because of this.

If nothing else that was a nice trip down memory lane seeing some old names which used to post here...and don't any more.
Maybe they will come back again in 2047 when the seller finally sells their house.

I guess in this case since they put the sink in the island, that is the only part of the kitchen they connected pipes and drainage to, and then thought "oh, where can we put the washing machine"

Oh and top marks for whoever got that grand piano up those stairs.
Our house is much more modest, but when we were house hunting a separate utility room was right at the top of our 'absolutely must have list'.  Washing machine and kitty litter tray for the use of.

Why do they have fake fireplaces anyway? The council forces them to have a fake chimney, but there is no need to waste space inside the house on it.

Looks like the island has had a leak at some stage. Floor mounted sockets cut into rug in the living room are unusual in the UK.

I believe sockets are only permitted in bathrooms if at least  three metres from the bath or shower.
Which will exclude most bathrooms in our  current (no pun intended) housing stock.
Possibly some sort of wired in connection might be possible but I don't know if the regs would allow

I think I've also mentioned this as well more than once. I travel extensively in Europe and pretty much every bathroom has a mains socket....with no evidence of widespread dropping of toasters into full baths, or wet hands on hairdryers.

While it's widely accepted we have the world's finest plug design, we should rethink bathroom design. Washing machines while bulky can fit into surprisingly small bathrooms if designed neatly

I was once asked to fit a socket in a bathroom for a washing machine.  I refused.

I went back some time later for another job.  They had drilled a small hole in the wall, cut the plug off, pushed the flex of the washing machine through, put a new plug on, and plugged it in in the adjacent room.
