But then, how many homes are a clinical environment and/or have labs ?Patr100 said:Dandie89 said:
It's the trapping of dust that many would say is healthier. I once heard them described as the lungs of a house, holding the dust and dirt until it is vacuumed up whereas dust and dirt on a solid floor is disturbed and lifted constantly as you move about.[Deleted User] said:
The problem with carpets, especially deep ones, is that they trap dust. Very unhealthy. Modern vacuum cleaners with beater bars are better at cleaning them, but there is only so much they can do.
If they are so healthier , why do you think you rarely if ever find carpets in hospital clinical areas and labs?
These things have been studied for decades . Floors are tiled or vinyl-laid for hygiene and easier more through cleaning.

That report is for public buildings though, where you are going to get a lot more people in them, so more chance for dust. I really don't think they are health problem in domestic homes[Deleted User] said:

Dust allergy and asthma charities often recommend removing carpets. Here's a study confirming that carpets are bad for your health: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5858259/
Curtains can do it too. Blinds are better.1 -
