Agree, that's hideous.ManuelG said:After one of my last entries in this thread I'm not expecting universal agreement ;)but I really don't find this to be a character property. I can spot an old door, a couple of old beams, but very little that's in keeping with the age of the property, or its history as a pub. Maybe its just me, maybe I need to get with the times! And as for the portakabin 'annex'...0 -

That upstairs reception room is very cosy ( and totally usable if you have a family of 30 ). I wonder if they ran out of money before converting that part?Ditzy_Mitzy said:Did you notice the wall behind that ASHP ?Looks decidedly damp to me...
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

I suspect that it was originally built as a small commercial unit with speculative residential planning thrown at the council for good measure. With residential planning granted, a somewhat half-baked attempt has been made to convert the thing to a house. I've been in similar buildings in commercial use; the mezzanine is either used as an open plan office with meeting rooms downstairs or, as a boardroom with offices downstairs.mi-key said:

That may also explain the lack of other amenities such as gardens, views, garage, outbuildings and the like that one would expect for the money. The 'garden' really does have the look of a car park that has been turfed over.

This shows the stupidity of our planning system. You are allowed to convert 2 old barns as long as you keep the building substantially the same which makes a poor house with a poor garden layout. You probably would not get planning to knock them down and build 2 proper houses with a much better layout and much better garden layout.Patr100 said:

Most disturbing bit is the towel rail that could have been centred above the radiator (and thus warm and dry a towel) is in a no man lands land between wall and tiles.markin said:2
