Looks like the developers have had some problems0

Interesting, so basically it's a temporary problem to fix sewage back-flowing into people's homes. Another quality new build.0

Anglian Water say it is to fix a broken pipe so it may not be to do with the new builds as such.[Deleted User] said:Interesting, so basically it's a temporary problem to fix sewage back-flowing into people's homes. Another quality new build.

It is a conundrum. I like being nosy and looking at houses, however I am also in the process of clearing out my late Dad’s house. He was struggling for the last few years of his life and the house clearly shows that. There’s no disability equipment there because he didn’t want to accept help.bobster2 said:
Many of the postings on this thread are very amusing. However, from time to time we get examples like this where disability living aids or medical equipment is clearly visible - and in my view it's rather unpleasant to include examples like this. Yes of course agents shouldn't take and post photos like these - and it's the agents who are responsible for infringing on the privacy of whoever lives (or lived) there. No idea what the circumstances are with this sale - but some of the examples on the thread might involve someone incapacitated and moving into long term care (with no cash to pay for help clearing up) or probate sales where the relatives live miles away. So can I make a suggestion? If someone spots a messy house on Rightmove - if you can see obvious disability / medical equipment - perhaps try to find something more amusing to post here?User36750 said:
Nothing like a good clear up before photos are taken.
(Don't want to single out User36750 - this is not the most troubling example I've seen). If it were to go on the market now, it would end up on this thread. By the time we have cleared it, aired it etc, it will look like - and be - a different house.2 -

Bit of a novel proposition (to me, anyway) - can only think the contractual negotiations could get very complicated.1 -
Doesn't look all that complicated to me. Whether it's a sensible proposition is another question.hedgewitchery said:https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/129018176#/?channel=RES_BUY

Nonsense to me. It's like one of those investment managers who offers "guaranteed 5% / 10% / 50% return". Well, if it's so great why don't you just invest in it, make 50% and keep quiet? Plenty of stories on the Savings/Investment board of schemes like this that ended in tears. Why don't they just keep the property and let it themselves?hedgewitchery said:https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/129018176#/?channel=RES_BUY

I'm doing a deal on Barge Poles for this community. If anyone buys one and touches this property with it, the scheme pays them 5.5% yearly. Initial £10 investment for 1 pole, thereafter monthly investments of just £4,500 until the end of the investment term. Money back if not entirely satisfied but not till the end of the term (Ts & Cs on application to myself, term 746 months)5 -
When I was talking about complexity, I was assuming (perhaps unfairly) that the vendor was likely to have a lot more conditions on what you can and can't do with the place, but possibly not.user1977 said:

If I wanted to get into holiday letting, I'm pretty sure I would want to consider the house purchase and ongoing maintenance arrangements totally separately. And if I wasn't, I doubt I'd be idly scanning property listings and go, ooh I was wondering what to do with my spare £185k, but this seems like a cracking deal!To be fair, I don't think it's a scam or anything. It may even be a reasonable holiday let, I just think the vendors may be trying to be too clever.2 -
I have a contender for the greyest house! Also check out the beautiful bodge at pictures 8/9

Clearly needed more rooms. Why not share a window and radiator? Wish I had thought of that myself. The money I wasted on moving home for more space...What I do not give, you must never take by force.
