Who needs a drive when a gravel dust track will do.

Gosh, what a sad looking house!

Yes it looks typical of a developer squeezing 1 more house in what would have been better as a green open space.
Compared to what was there before...

I would take exception to the claim that it is a "sought after location" - Having been there, it is not somewhere I'd want to stay.

Maybe "sought after" in the same sense a crime suspect is ,
in order to "help the police with their enquiries"

Can't see that bungalow being extended or modernised. Whole site cries out to be redeveloped with a least 2 new houses
Why does it "cry out" for squeezed in houses that won't really be fit for 2+ cars each after a few years?
It could be a fantastic plot as it is for someone.

A bungalow near me has sold their garden and a company is building three houses in it.  Access is stupidly tight, the houses look squashed in...  almost like they wern't supposed to be there / obvious the developer is looking to cash in rather than produce quality homes.
Because that is a "brownfield" site and far better to use brownfield sites first, instead of destroying our countryside. Land is scarce and to accommodate the quantity of housing apparently required, developers have to build to a higher density.  Decent size gardens in speculative suburban developments were at their peak from the 1930s to the1950s. Those days are long, long past.
So we should accept cramped, rubbish houses that are sold with profit being the main aim, at the sacrifice of someone's wellbeing?  If you think that's okay, well okay then.

Remember, there is far more countryside than building in our country.  I'm not a fan of building on countryside but there are plenty of places you can build nice homes with medium gardens instead of the postage stamp many people seem to settle for these days.  Especially when more people will start working from home, having somewhere to be able to go out and relax in is more important than it's been in recent years.

Invitation is firmly there to message me to discuss further instead of clogging up this thread.
You may be unaware of the fact, but the majority of houses have been built with profit being the main aim, whether for sale or for rent. Just because I make an observation doesn't mean I wholeheartedly agree with it. People buying "cramped, rubbish houses" means they are accepted.

It would be very nice if we could all afford a plot to build a bespoke house with decent garden, but apart from lack of supply I think the land price would be prohibitive.

I originate from a small country town where in the past 60 years or so, there have been over125 developments of 2 houses or more on infill, garden grab, allotment and brownfield, plus conversion of commercial property, not to mention the vast private greenfield estates which dominate the north and west of the town. The huge council estate on greenfield was 70/75 years ago.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Gosh looks like an after thought
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

Matches the brown carpet, brown curtains, brown kitchen and brown lino. And I still prefer it to the ubiquitous grey boxes that pass for contemporary in almost every makeover you see when people are preparing their places for sale.

For some reason that reminds me of the pub area from the programme Shameless

The two photos of stairs appear to show different colours - can it just be down to the light?

All that brown is just nasty.

Looks like it.  The hall looks quite dark compared to the landing.
