Houses like that are a tragedy. They are just so badly designed. Waste loads of space, awkward room layout, and a garage that is too small for many cars. Can't easily be fixed either.
Unfortunately most houses are built as cheaply as possible, which means design is focused on reducing cost. They don't use architects, only architectural engineers who seem to have no clue about what people actually need from a home.0 -

Are we looking at the same thing? I can see that there's been a problem with water leaking through the ceiling to the kitchen, I'd at least want to know that whatever leaked is no longer leaking and that it has properly dried and bathroom floor upstairs isn't rotten.
I think putting a new bathroom and a kitchen is a bit much for almost any DIYer, I also suspect that house is in need of a new roof but hard to tell from the photos.0 -
