Looks not touched in 60 years! Love the fireplaces in pics 5 and 7 with mirror above. Hope the new owner keeps them.9 -
That's wonderful! We viewed a bungalow very similar to that. A real time capsule.

Looks like the flat is a loft conversion. Do people think this is a flat worth considering or should I avoid? I know the big thing about loft conversion flats is the potential limitation in height space due to the sloping walls etc but wanted to know what other factors to think about with this one.0 -
Insulation levels in the dormer & ceilings - If the insulation is poor, it is going to be cold (or expensive to heat) and there will be problems with condensation/damp. That staircase looks like it might get tiresome after a while and you will struggle to get larger pieces of furniture up there.Raneynickel4 said:https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/108864923#/?channel=RES_BUY

Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.2 -
Would keep the built in cabinets in the lounge too. Is it a trick of the camera or does that sink unit have a sort of "English Rose" type tilt to it? The kitchen does not look to be in great condition which is a shame as the meat safe is very cute too.briskbeats said:https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/75514944#/media?id=media0&channel=RES_BUY

It's not an English Rose; they were much ritzier looking, had something of a streamline moderne aspect and, in all honesty, wouldn't be found in a house like that. Those just look like ordinary fifties wooden units, albeit in good condition. The sink is a newer thing put on the old carcass, which is probably why it doesn't fit properly!Dandie89 said:

My eye was caught by the detail of the skirting board from the meat safe to the door which looked like a lovely skilled job and the overhead laundry airer cord on the wall above the worktop.Dandie89 said:

I also thought that it would be worth keeping the cabinets and that the layout of the kitchen was very good too.
Generally this was a fascinating glimpse into recent history and I found myself wishing that the agent had included more photos.2 -
True... But you'd need to bring them through the house first, don't think there's any other access to the garden!RedFraggle said:
